Isekai Memories’ Final Boss Is Rimuru’s Most Personal Fight Ever

[ad_1]

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Isekai Memories’ final boss fight is Rimuru’s most personal ever, thrusting him into a family feud.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is a smash-hit isekai series that is actually far more than a typical power fantasy in another world, setting it apart from the likes of Sword Art Online and In Another World With My Smartphone. The slime hero, Rimuru Tempest, fights for the sake of others, both on and off the battlefield.

This is how Rimuru recruited so many allies and built his own diverse monster kingdom, and this theme continues in the Isekai Memories mobile game by Bandai Namco, including the game’s final boss. Rimuru’s slime “daughter” Shinsha only wants love and acceptance, and that’s what Rimuru can give her. There’s no need to fight.

Shinsha’s Role & Personal Arc In Isekai Memories

Shinsha is a powerful and sentient pink slime in the story of Isekai Memories, and she introduces herself to Rimuru Tempest as his daughter. Shinsha views Rimuru as her “papa,” since her slime species and abilities derive from Rimuru’s own, and Rimuru is skeptical for much of Isekai Memories‘ plot. Rimuru rejects her at first, unwilling to believe that he could be a parent either as a human or a slime. This rejection troubles Shinsha, who reacts poorly and eventually uses force to convince her “father” to accept her.

Shinsa’s appearances are in between the original story arcs of the Slime anime, usually taking place in Rimuru’s capital city or the mirror world where Shinsha’s patron, the scheming Izis, resides. Izis is another Isekai Memories original character, the mastermind behind all of Rimuru’s troubles. Izus often pits Rimuru against mirror versions of Rimuru’s best friends, such as Shion the secretary and even Ranga the wolf, and she pits Rimuru against his slime daughter, too. Shinsha hopes that a show of force will impress her father and convince him to take her side, leading to several boss battles, including the final one. But as Izis soon learns, Shinsha’s true goals are based not on magical powers or battle, but matters of the heart. What Shinsha needs cannot be won on the battlefield, and this ties her into Slime‘s most optimistic themes.

Rimuru’s & Shinsha’s Quest For Legitimacy In The Isekai World

When Rimuru defeats Shinsha in Isekai Memories‘ final battle, father and daughter embrace as family, and that’s all Shinsha ever wanted. Izis was convinced that Shinsha needed more and more power to force Rimuru to accept her, and Izis even coveted Rimuru’s power for herself. But while Izis wanted domination, Shinsha wanted a family, and her quest could not be completed through violence or shows of force. This is something her slime father had learned for himself in the original story of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime — that the best things in life come from cooperation, trust and respect, not conquest.

Shinsha’s personal arc is Rimuru’s own in miniature, echoing Rimuru’s humble beginnings as a slime in that cave with no one but Veldora the storm dragon for company. Ever since then, Rimuru used diplomacy and compromise to recruit new allies and convince his opponents to stand down or even join him. That’s how he united the goblins and dire wolves early on, and he even forged alliances with the lizard-men and the Armed Nation of Dwargon, not to mention several human kingdoms. This was a serious challenge for Rimuru since he can’t just fight his way to victory, but Rimuru was up to the task, and he grew as a person along the way. His best fights don’t involve magic or violence at all.

This theme is reflected in Rimuru’s new relationship with Shinsha, where violence is never the answer. Shinsha couldn’t win over her father by fighting him or taking his friends hostage — instead, Rimuru realized how lonely Shinsha had been in the mirror world, and sympathized with her. Once he embraced his slime daughter, all of Shinsha’s hostility was gone, and Izis’ scheme fell apart at once. Now Shinsha has a family and friends of her own, and she has her father to lead the way. The real battle had been in Shinsha’s heart all along.
