For 1,500 Years, Beelzebub has been happy with her work as a rank-and-file clerk for the demon government. But the lifestyle she loves and maintains comes to an end when the new demon king appointed her as an agricultural minister! Does she have what it takes to become a proper, high-ranking demon?
Welcome back for another review for Hira Yakunin Yatte 1500-nen, Maou no Chikara de Daijin ni Sarechaimashita (I Was a Bottom-Tier Bureaucrat for 1,500 Years and the Demon King Made Me a Minister). This time the series is in the form of manga. The VIP of this series is Beelzebub herself, who you know and love from the original series I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level, who, by the way, has a big sister vibe from her.
The art style of the characters and the expressions they give are more carefree and lovely. The story shows how vital work culture and ethics are no matter what kind of job we have. But let’s delve more into that in the next section.
Why You Should Read Hira Yakunin Yatte 1500-nen, Maou no Chikara de Daijin ni Sarechaimashita (I Was a Bottom-Tier Bureaucrat for 1,500 Years and the Demon King Made Me a Minister)
1. Work Ethics
The new demon king may be young, but her decision to appoint Beelzebub as the new minister is rational. For 1,500 years, Beelzebub has more knowledge than most of the Agricultural Department because she sometimes took assignments outside of her job scope. Not only that, she comes from the countryside, where her mindsets and thought process are not heavily biased toward the nobles. Meaning, she prioritizes the prosperity and peace of both the demon and human race and won’t be easily be corrupted by nobles.
2. Colleagues
Introducing Beelzebub secretaries Fatla and Vania. They are the leviathan twins who have bipolar opposite personalities. Vania is a cheerful character with deep culinary knowledge, but she doesn’t take her work seriously most of the time. Fatla is a serious demon who makes sure everything is done perfectly and ensure Beelzebub and Vania have done their part. If you get to understand how these sisters work, you probably will get the impression that the other won’t work efficiently without one of them. Both have strengths and flaws of their own, but we can’t help but feel that they are adorable and fun to work within a job.
Why You Should Skip Hira Yakunin Yatte 1500-nen, Maou no Chikara de Daijin ni Sarechaimashita (I Was a Bottom-Tier Bureaucrat for 1,500 Years and the Demon King Made Me a Minister)
1. Perfectly Based on the Original Source
Wait, wait, wait! Before you get the pitchforks, we wanted to point them out in details. This manga follows the light novel version in terms of the story and its details, so it may not be necessary for those who have read the source material. However! This manga can give the readers an idea of how the situations unfold as if we are watching an anime adapted from a manga.
Hira Yakunin Yatte 1500-nen, Maou no Chikara de Daijin ni Sarechaimashita (I Was a Bottom-Tier Bureaucrat for 1,500 Years and the Demon King Made Me a Minister) is a story of how Beelzebub strive to improve and prove her worth to be a proper minister after unexpectedly appointed as one by the demon king Pecora herself. The side characters are cute and probably fun to work with. Beelzebub’s office culture reminded us of how important it is to preserve a positive work environment and maintain professional integrity to contribute to society. However, this manga may not be suitable to light novel readers who have read the source unless you are interested to know how things unfold. If you are interested in learning how Beelzebub work as a minister and improve herself as a demon, you may want to give this series a chance.
