The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, had a successful launch with a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, but not everyone was pleased with the film. Robert Pattinson stars as a new incarnation of Bruce Wayne’s Batman, and is set in the present world and incorporates many real-life elements to tell the tale. However, several scenes have apparently upset comic fans on Twitter who have labeled The Batman as “too woke.”
Before we continue, be aware that there are SPOILERS FOR THE BATMAN AHEAD.
One scene in The Batman that has sparked debate is one in which Batman and Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz) discuss the Riddler’s brutal killings (Paul Dano). Catwoman suggests they deserved it, calling them “white privilege assholes,” a speech that, along with certain character castings, has sparked outrage on Twitter.
Woke politics effecting the #Batman all the bad characters are white men. Falcon, penguin, riddler, Commissioner, chief, DA. Ignorant Rich white boy Bruce Wayne, morally corrupt politician Thomas Wayne but all the good guys are black. Gordon, Catwoman, mayor. Nice work Hollywood.

That’s because all the characters are portrayed from comics. All the characters can be black or white or whatever. I pointing the fact that all white people are portrayed as evil in this batman movie. Compare with other batman movies the bad guys have some redeeming qualities.

Yay! A woke #batman film just want the kids need, to be spoon fed a little more liberal bullshit using a new avenue in @DCComics – the #Russians are lucky this shit won’t invade thier minds and the fragile minds of thier children.

I was already abnormally disinterested in the new Batman, but woke signaling like this makes me want to skip it even more #TheBatman

You know whenever there’s is this virtue signaling leftist propaganda of feminist narcissism in any film, like in the #Batman (as was expected), you know that ain’t a superhero film any more of the comics. It’s “progressive” idiocy.#batman2022 #Batman #WarnerBros #woke

Just saw @TheBatman…Took a while to get interesting (3 hrs is too long). Unnecessary political pandering…Liked most of the plot and villainous characters were more real ppl versus cartoonish (this was pretty cool). 3/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️, won’t sustain if woke writing continues!

Ben Affleck fans haven’t given up on their dream of the solo Batfleck movie just yet. While there’s been a lot of chatter online over The Batman along with the performances of its cast, such as Pattinson as the new Bruce Wayne, the hashtags #MakeTheBatfleckMovie and #Batfleck have still been trending on social media.
#TheBatman was great, solid 8/10. Runtime perfect for the story told, bar a couple of scenes that could lose a min here and there. For me, #Battinson is very good but behind #Batfleck𓃵 , perhaps even Bale. Enjoyed alot, but still #MakeTheBatfleckMovie and #RestoreTheSnyderVerse

I enjoyed #TheBatman a lot. Robert Pattinson was great as the Dark Knight, his Bruce Wayne leaves something to be desired. The story was well written and seeing Batman solve a mystery was very enjoyable. Ben Affleck still takes the title as the best live action Batman #Batfleck𓃵

Batfleck fans don’t need to fret, though. The actor will be back once again in The Flash to don the cowl, along with Michael Keaton.
No matter what these Twitter fans think, multiple Batman spinoffs are in the works at HBO Max and we will likely see The Batman 2 greenlit in the near future in light of the film’s success. Even with some backlash on social media, Warner Bros. is probably very pleased with how well this release has performed. The movie opened with $128.5 million domestically making it the second best start for a film since the pandemic started and is also the best opening for director Matt Reeves as it passes his Dawn of the Planet of the Apes ($73 million).
The Batman is now playing in movie theaters everywhere.
