A ticket to the Collector’s Emporium in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy costs a whopping 5,000 units, or you can get one for free — for a song.
In Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the player will eventually get a chance to visit the Collector’s Emporium, a museum of sorts holding many of the most interesting cosmic artifacts from the comic books (i.e., Easter eggs). This occurs when the team arrives at Knowhere seeking urgent help from the space station’s Head of Security, Cosmo the Spacedog, during Chapter 6, “Between a Rock and a Hard Place.” That doesn’t mean there isn’t a bit of time to engage in tourism.
Players will only get this one chance to visit the Emporium, as circumstances prevent visiting it when returning to Knowhere later in the game. Unfortunately, tickets to the Emporium come at a premium of 5,000 units each. That’s a lot to spend, especially considering all the other trinkets you can purchase on Knowhere, not to mention the outstanding fine the Guardians owe to the Nova Corps. Luckily, there is a way to score a free ticket to the Emporium, though most players will miss this opportunity unless they know of its existence.
Your chance at getting the ticket comes immediately after meeting Mantis, where you’ll find yourself outside of Mantlo’s Bar. The player must keep their eyes out for Rocket and Groot, who are currently on bad terms with Star-Lord, in a window on the right. Instead of walking past it with Gamora and Drax, the player must immediately enter the bar through the first doorway available. If the player passes by without entering, Gamora and Drax go their separate ways and the opportunity to earn the ticket will be lost.
Once Star-Lord enters the bar, an alien named Lipless will appear and point a gun at the player. Lipless insists that he’s an old friend of Star-Lord’s and so, as any good friend does, threatens to kill him if he doesn’t partake in some karaoke with him. Lipless asks if he remembers him. The player should answer with a yes.
After proving you remember Lipless, it’s karaoke time. Star-Lord teams up with Lipless to sing a couple of poorly harmonized ballads, but the player’s choices in terms of which lyrics Star-Lord sings are key. At the first prompt, select “Like a Hurricane.” Lipless will be excited and keep singing; at the second prompt, choose “Through the Rain.” Be careful not to choose “Cherry Lips,” as it hurts Lipless’ feelings since the lyrics compare cherries to lips. Doing so will lead to an offended Lipless declaring Star-Lord his sworn enemy and leaving the bar without giving him the Emporium ticket.
Once the correct choices have been made and ear-piercing songs have been sung, Lipless will embrace Star-Lord as his true blood brother and friend. To show his appreciation, he will give Star-Lord a ticket to the Collector’s Emporium, which he had meant to visit himself but simply didn’t have the time. After Lipless leaves, the player is free to explore the bar or head on over to the Emporium. Once there, the ticket can be exchanged for entry to view the many fantastical artifacts from Marvel Comics history stored in the facility.
