In Hotel Transylvania 4: Transformania loveable Uncle Frankenstein turns into every monster’s worst nightmare: a hot guy with a cellphone.

Hotel Transylvania 4: Transformania is the latest installment of the animated film series that has come to Prime Video, and the title tells viewers exactly what to expect. It’s a supernatural Freaky Friday as fans’ favorite monsters transform into humans, and Johnny becomes a monster. It’s all thanks to Van Helsing’s Monsterification Ray. While Johnny chooses to use the ray, the beam accidentally hits the other monsters.
Johnny’s transformation is extreme, and he winds up a huge, green-scaled creature. But it’s the other monsters that truly shock fans. The audiences probably weren’t expecting a super closeup of Griffin’s bare butt forming before their eyes and Frankenstein’s dramatic change into a living human. What was once a stitch-strewn creature transforms into “Sexy Frank.”
Frankenstein has been seen as loveable, old “Uncle Frank” for most of the franchise. However, in Hotel Transylvania 4, he’s suddenly a “Hot Boi” complete with teenie bopper Justin Bieber hair, a ripped physique and even some barely-there Speedos. Once his transformation is complete, Frank’s personality totally changes, and audiences catch him checking himself out in the mirror several times. In fact, his first action once transformed is to take a selfie puckering up his lips for the quintessential “duck face.” The words “sexy man” whisper in the background.
While Frank’s transformation is probably one of the funniest aspects of the movie, it’s certainly jarring. Previously, fans saw the character as a big-hearted goof, and now, he’s playing the role of hot jock. It’s a strange look for him, to say the least, and Eunice, like most of the audience, is not a fan. When she sees him for the first time, Eunice screams bloody murder.
Most of the other monsters in the diverse family look like human versions of the character. Wayne looks like a middle-aged man with a beard, the same outfit too. Blobby looks like jello, and Murray looks like an Ancient Egyptian Pharoah, which he was before he became a mummy. Griffin just looks like a guy, a balding guy at that.
What’s even more jarring is how into his new look Frank is. He goes on about how everyone loves seeing more of him while he’s lounging around nearly naked. When they travel to a cavern searching for the crystal to turn them back into themselves, Frank gets separated from the others because he has to stop and admire his reflection.
The other monsters also think it’s especially strange, and Murray comments that Frank got the worst of it. Frankenstein also becomes obsessed with his hair. It strangely provides something for him and Eunice to bond over as they both threaten to kill Johnny should he mess it up.
However, Franks finds his family spirit at the end and helps guide Mavis safely through the sunlight to transform Johnny back into a human. Still, he tries to keep his Bieber locks and even attempts to take another selfie with them. Of course, Eunice hates how it looks and uses a few swords to slice the hair off and get him back to his signature horror movie monster look. Poor Frank begrudgingly accepts it and allows Eunice to photograph them together now that they match again. It seems love does triumph over vanity, stitches and all.
