Hotel Transylvania 4 Trailer Gives Drac a Whole New Taste of Humanity

[ad_1]

The trailer for Sony Pictures Animation’s Hotel Transylvania: Transformania follows Dracula as he discovers what life is like as a human.

Sony Pictures Animation dropped a second trailer for Hotel Transylvania: Transformania ahead of its release in the fall.

The trailer shows Drac and the pack being accidentally transformed into humans by Van Helsing’s Monsterfication Ray, which also turns Johnny into a monster. Hoping to revert back to their monstrous selves before the ray’s effects become permanent, Drac and the others set out on a journey to a mysterious location in the Amazon where their transformations can be reversed. Along the way, Drac gets a taste of what life is like as a human, from the good (being able to walk around in the sun) to the bad (being fresh meat for piranhas and mosquitoes in the jungle).

Hotel Transylvania: Transformania is the fourth and supposedly final entry in the animated franchise, which kicked off with the first Hotel Transylvania in 2012. Unlike the previous three installments, however, Transformania isn’t directed by animation legend Genndy Tartakosky. Instead, he serves as a co-writer and executive producer only, with SpongeBob SquarePants co-developer Derek Drymon and Jennifer Kluska (the DC Super Hero Girls animated series) calling the shots in his place.

Since announced in Feb. 2019, Hotel Transylvania: Transformania has gone through multiple release date changes, partly as a result of Sony altering its film slate in response to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Most recently, the animated sequel moved back to avoid having to compete against all the other movies now scheduled to arrive in late July.

The official synopsis for the film reads,

Drac and the pack are back, like you’ve never seen them before in Hotel Transylvania: Transformania. Reunite with your favorite monsters for an all-new adventure that presents Drac with his most terrifying task yet. When Van Helsing’s mysterious invention, the ‘Monsterfication Ray,’ goes haywire, Drac and his monster pals are all transformed into humans, and Johnny becomes a monster! In their new mismatched bodies, Drac, stripped of his powers, and an exuberant Johnny, loving life as a monster, must team up and race across the globe to find a cure before it’s too late, and before they drive each other crazy. With help from Mavis and the hilariously human Drac Pack, the heat is on to find a way to switch themselves back before their transformations become permanent.

Directed by Jennifer Kluska and Derek Drymon, Hotel Transylvania: Transformania stars Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, David Spade, Brian Hull, Asher Blinkoff, Brad Abrell, Fran Drescher, Jim Gaffigan and Molly Shannon. The film arrives in theaters Oct. 1
