HBO Max’s ‘Wonder Twins’ Comedy Series Has Cast Its Leads

The latest DC characters headed to HBO Max in their own series are the alien siblings, The Wonder Twins, in a new live-action comedy.

The shape-shifting characters first appeared in the Hanna-Barbera animated series The All-New Super Friends Hour. Deadline is reporting that casting has taken place and that Zan, who has the power to take on any form of water, will be played by Riverdale star KJ Apa, while his sister Jayna, with the power to shift into any animal, will be played by 1883 actress Isabel May.

The characters may have had their start on an animated series, like a few other popular DC characters, they made the jump to comics in 1977 in the Super Friends comic by E. Nelson Bridwell and Ramona Fradon. They also have appeared in other media including live action appearances on Smallville and The Flash. 

Black Adam and Rampage co-writer Adam Sztykiel will be making his directorial debut on this series as well as providing the script.
