Harry Potter actor Robert Knox’s murder is set to be the feature of a new anti-knife-crime documentary titled (K)nox: The Rob Knox Story.
The murder of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince actor Robert Knox is set to be the subject of a new documentary.
According to Variety, the actor’s murder will be the feature of the documentary (K)nox: The Rob Knox Story, produced and distributed worldwide by Woodcut International. The film is set to feature interviews with family, friends and members of the film community. Some of the Harry Potter actors set to take part in the documentary include Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) and Jim Broadbent (Professor Slughorn).
The docufilm is directed by Aaron Truss and is produced by both Nick Kenton and the Rob Knox Foundation, which was set up in Knox’s honor after his death. “Not only have Woodcut been involved with some great documentaries like Damilola: Death of a Ten Year Old, but they also understand the need for a film like this in today’s society,” the Foundation noted. “Knife crime especially in the U.K. is worse than ever, so we hope that this film will make an impact on people’s attitudes towards this horrific culture.”
Woodcut International’s Koulla Anastasia described her privilege in taking part in the documentary, saying, “This film pays homage to a young man whose legacy has shone a light on knife crime, and his fame in the Harry Potter movie has created a unique vehicle to draw attention to the soul-destroying impact crimes of this nature have on so many lives.”
The documentary – which has been described as an anti-knife-crime film – will look at the life and death of the Harry Potter star. Knox was murdered in Southeast London in May 2008 while intervening in a fight to protect his younger brother from a man armed with two knives. He was just 18 when he was murdered.
Other than his role in the Harry Potter franchise, Knox had multiple other appearances in film and TV, most notably in the movie King Arthur and the BBC comedy After You’ve Gone. Before his death, he signed on for the seventh Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.
(K)nox: The Rob Knox Story is set to feature at The Soho Independent Film Festival on Nov. 20.
