Harley Quinn & Ivy’s First Date, Robin’s Mortal ‘Kombat’ Finale Lead DC’s New Releases

[ad_1]

DC Comics’ releases for Dec. 28 are jam-packed with action and emotion, with titles out like Harley Quinn, Robin, The Flash, Action Comics and more.

Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are about to go on their first date in the main DC Universe.

Though the two have been seen romantically involved in Harley Quinn: The Animated Series, for years, Harley and Ivy’s relationship in comics blurred the line between friendship and romance, especially since the two’s first on-page kiss was altered before it could appear in 2017. The road has been rocky since that point — Ivy was killed and reborn during Heroes in Crisis and the two were forced to part ways in Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy — but the couple reunited for their first, official continuity kiss in the recent event, Batman: Fear State. Picking up after the Batman event, the upcoming Harley Quinn #10 will feature the couple’s first date, hitting shelves alongside many other releases.

One such release is Robin #9, which will be wrapping up the Mortal Kombat-style tournament that Damian Wayne has been involved in since the ongoing series began in April 2021. Featuring fights to the death and video game-esque rules with each fighter receiving three lives to compete with, Damian lost his second life and the tournament last issue to Green Arrow’s son, Connor Hawke, which also awakened the Lazarus Demon within the island. The fighters will have to stop the demon unleashed before the series can start building to its next major storyline: Shadow War. Also helmed by Robin writer Joshua Williamson and and beginning in March 2022, the event will pit Damian Wayne and his father Batman against Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke.

These are only two titles releasing next week, with other notable mentions including the zombified resurrection of former Suicide Squad member Deadshot in Task Force Z, the beginning of a new mature Swamp Thing series, the continuation of Action Comics‘ “Warworld Saga” and more. The full list of next week’s releases — covers and solicitations — can be found alphabetically below.
