Halo’s 20th anniversary and E3 announcement

[ad_1]

E3 had many reveals and jaw-dropping content, but for Xbox gamers, nothing compares to the segment on Halo Infinite. During the segment, fans were shown trailers and gameplay in 4k resolution. The new addition to the Halo saga has evolved just as the Xbox has with high resolution, new Spartan customizations, and expansive exploration of a Halo ring. However, the biggest reveals were the split between the campaign and multiplayer modes into different games and the change in how the infamous Battle Pass will be handled.

Halo Infinite has been split into different games. There is the standard campaign that explores the story mode of the game. When the campaign mode is purchased, the player will automatically gain access to the multiplayer mode as well. Halo’s praised multiplayer mode returns as a free-to-play option available on the Xbox. Players will be able to play matches with or without the campaign mode in teams of four for fair and balanced gameplay.

Battle Passes are special events for games that allow players to collect rewards or special gear for completing certain missions or tasks during the allotted time. Halo Infinite has turned the rules of the Battle Pass upside down by eliminating the time limit on the events. If a player decides to participate in an event during the season or time it goes live but doesn’t finish it by the end of the season, then the player can finish the event at any time. The Battle Pass seasons for Halo Infinite will last three months, and the theme of the first season is Halo Reach.

Twenty years ago, Xbox was launched by Microsoft as its first gaming system, and with Xbox’s launch, came the first Halo game to hit the shelves, Halo: Combat Evolved. Halo: Combat Evolved has been praised as one of the greatest shooter games of all time with over 5 million copies sold in the first four years. The subsequent games, Halo 2 and Halo 3 came with a welcomed addition of Xbox Live allowing players to play multiplayer matches online further cementing Halo’s reputation as one of the best games of all time.

Halo 3 ODST and Halo Reach were the last set of games created by Bungie before the second trilogy of Halo came to fruition from 343. Halo 4 introduced a new enemy of warriors, Prometheans, that were created by the Forerunners, which is set to be the enemies with square off with again after  Halo 5: Guardians. Halo Infinite features missions with Master Chief, and an epic battle with the Prometheans.

Halo Infinite is set to be released in 2021 during the holiday season, and it will be available the same day on Xbox game pass. For its 20th anniversary, Halo is pulling out all the stops to bring players a game that they will enjoy playing without the need to grind missions to attain rewards. The 20th anniversary is memorable for fans of the Halo saga that started playing Halo in 2001 and have followed the saga through multiple games and endless amounts of online matches. With the new multiplayer mode free-to-play, all Xbox gamers playing for the first time can celebrate the anniversary with loyal, long-time fans.
