The latest McFarlane Toys figures are ultra-detailed likenesses of Gunslinger Spawn, Redeemer and Soul Crusher, all retailing for $24.99.
McFarlane Toys’ latest figures of three iconic Spawn characters — Gunslinger Spawn, the Dark Redeemer and Soul Crusher — are now available for pre-order.
The seven inch sculpts all cost $24.99 and boast McFarlane Toys’ usual high attention to detail along with up to 22 points of articulation. Each also comes bundled with various accessories. Gunslinger Spawn carries his twin pistols and a Gatling gun, while the Redeemer wields his sword and Soul Crusher carries a pistol and assault rifle.
Gunslinger Spawn is the star of a soon-to-launch new series spearheaded by Spawn creator Todd McFarlane and artist Brett Booth. Originally set to hit comic book shops on Oct. 20 before the release date moved to Oct. 27 because of paper shortages, Gunslinger Spawn will start a new chapter in the tale of Old West Hellspawn Jeremy Winston, who forged a fiery deal with the demon Mammon in the 1800s and encountered the current Spawn’s ancestor, Henry Simmons. Issue #1 sees Gunslinger Spawn trapped in the present era and attempting to return home to his own time. Its first printing sold a tremendous 385,000 units, making it the biggest launch for a new ongoing superhero book in 25 years.
The Redeemer, an avenging angel also known as the Anti-Spawn, debuted in 1995’s Spawn #31. Commanding the power of Heaven, the Redeemer has been a recurring antagonist for Al Simmons and has changed identities over the course of history. The current Redeemer, Eddie Frank, was originally a boy who helped nurse an injured Spawn back to life in 1995’s Spawn #29. Frank shot and killed his abusive father in order to protect his younger brother, and the pair eventually travelled to New York City, asking to become Spawn’s mentees. Spawn refused them, and Eddie began to fester a deep hatred of Hellspawn. Eventually, Eddie spiraled into a descent that ended in him committing a mass shooting and taking his own life. Shortly afterwards, Heaven chose him as the Redeemer, and he will appear in The Scorched, a team-up book featuring Spawn characters set to release in December.
Soul Crusher, a more recent Spawn character, first appeared in 2017’s Spawn #272. A mysterious scarred figure clad in a gas mask with a potent skin-burning toxin at his disposal, Soul Crusher has fashioned himself as a vigilante acting for the greater good, but his methods have resulted in bloody death — with eerie gas masks left on the faces of his victims.
Gunslinger Spawn, the Dark Redeemer and Soul Crusher can be pre-ordered on the McFarlane Toys website and a wide variety of other online retailers, with an expected shipping date of November.
