Season 4 of NBC’s Good Girls is heating up as Beth’s criminal empire just got dealt its nastiest blow thanks to a very traitorous move.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for NBC’s Good Girls Season 4, Episode 12, “Family First.”

In Good Girls, Dean (Matthew Lillard) is officially looking to turn on his wife, Beth (Christina Hendricks). He’s backed her long enough, even taking the rap for her laundering, but he realizes she’s addicted to crime and can’t stop abandoning her kids to keep the empire running. As such, Dean’s gone on to secretly recruit a key player, and it deals Beth her nastiest blow yet.

Dean’s law team makes it clear he needs concrete evidence of Beth doing her own thing. Their hot tub company was in their name, ergo why Dean can’t shake the case he already admitted to, but if he can catch Beth doing something solo, it’ll help him out immensely. He quietly approaches Ruby’s husband, Stan, for help, but despite hating Beth, Stan doesn’t want to endanger his wife inadvertently.

However, a stroke of luck comes when Beth looks for an establishment to print her counterfeit bills. She owes Rio after they botched the Canadian job and lost a lot of phoney money, but their savings are pretty low. To make it worse, Rio’s taken Annie as a hostage for a bit, so they need to print ASAP. They eventually devise a plan to buy the strip club Stan worked at, which was seized in a police op.

It’s being auctioned off, but while it’s cheap, they’re still short. However, Stan loans Beth the money, acting as an angel investor, with no paperwork attached. She’s grateful, and together, she and Ruby get the place; although, it requires some shady bribing. Nonetheless, they’re happy as they finally have a base they can call their own, and as they’re not reopening, they don’t have to worry about building inspectors, heavy utilities or overheads.

While it’s a dream come true, Stan backstabs Beth big time after finding out her name is on the deed. She’s sole proprietor, so his gamble worked out, proving he’s just as sinister a mastermind as she is. It’s part ego but also, he really wants her locked up and away from Ruby, especially as he knows Beth won’t snitch on the ladies.

When he’s in the hot tub, chilling with Dean and the law crew, Stan then drops the bombshell, not knowing it’s all tied to Rio’s cartel. They’re impressed but shocked he’d do this, yet Stan doesn’t care. It’s the smoking gun they all need to get Beth out their lives, and for him, it’s been a long time coming. It remains to be seen how Ruby will react if she finds out, and if Dean will follow through, but one thing’s for sure — Stan’s the perfect inside man.

Good Girls stars Christina Hendricks, Mae Whitman, Retta, Matthew Lillard, Reno Wilson and Manny Montana. Season 4 airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
