Ghost of Tsushima’s Multiplayer Mode Gets Standalone Release

[ad_1]

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, the co-operative multiplayer mode for the beloved Sony exclusive, will soon be available as a separate product.

Sucker Punch Productions and Sony Interactive announced that Ghost of Tsushima‘s multiplayer mode Legends will soon be available as a standalone product.

As confirmed in a blog post, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends can be bought and played as a separate experience by players who don’t already own the single-player game. This standalone version will continue to receive new content updates in the future and will be available for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 for $20. Players who purchase this multiplayer mode and wish to play the single-player campaign in the future can upgrade their game to Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut for an additional $40 on PS4 or $50 on PS5.

“With the exception of some cosmetics that can only be unlocked via the single-player campaign, this is the same Legends content accessible by owners of Ghost of Tsushima, so you’ll have access to the content released in 2020 in addition to everything new described above,” reads the announcement post. Sucker Punch Productions also confirmed that players who purchase Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will be able to play with anyone who owns the full title.

Alongside the standalone announcement, Sucker Punch Productions also revealed a new game mode: Rivals. Launching on Sept. 3, Rivals will see two teams of players fighting against waves of enemies, earning Magatama for every slain foe. This currency can then be spent on power-ups to disadvantage the enemy team, including “Shades to block your opponents’ purchases, Curses (health drain, exploding bodies, etc), Hwacha fire, and more.” Once enough Magatama is spent, teams can unlock Final Stand waves; the first to complete these last rounds wins the match.

A new progression system, Mastery Challenges, is also coming to Ghost of Tsushima: Legends. This allows players who’ve earned 110-level gear to bind it to a class and activate these difficult quests. Upon completion, the gear’s Ki level can be upgraded to 120 and a second perk slot will be unlocked. New Abilities and Techniques can be earned for each class through these Mastery Challenges.

The standalone version of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends launches on Sept. 3. To celebrate the release of Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut, Sucker Punch Productions confirmed that it will be releasing new content every week from Sept. 10 to Oct. 1. These updates will include an additional Rivals map, new survival maps and Trials of Iyo, a harder version of last year’s raid.
