From The Book of Boba Fett to Morbius, Here Are This Week’s Best Trailers

While Halloween may have come to an auspicious end, the holiday season is right around the corner as November 2021 begins in earnest, with Thanksgiving on the immediate horizon. And to get audiences ready for impending holidays, there has been an impressive wave of new trailers for television and film to get fans excited, including original programming slated to roll out on Disney+ and HBO Max while movie theaters continue to enjoy their resurgence of big studio blockbusters.

Here are all the biggest and best trailers, teasers and promos for television and film released during the first week of November 2021 as the end of the year begins to rapidly come into focus.

The Book of Boba Fett

After making his official return in The Mandalorian, the most iconic bounty hunter in the Star Wars Universe is back in the spotlight in the upcoming Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett. Picking up Boba Fett and Fennec Shand’s story from when they were both last seen together in The Mandalorian Season 2 finale, the two bounty hunters waste no time in rising to power in Tatooine’s criminal underworld, with several familiar aliens seen along the way.

The Book of Boba Fett premieres Dec. 29 on Disney+.

8-Bit Christmas

Neil Patrick Harris is counting on Nintendo to save his family’s yuletide celebrations in the upcoming HBO Max original movie 8-Bit Christmas. Channeling plenty of late ’80s nostalgia, Harris plays a man named Jake who recalls his childhood attempts to acquire a coveted Nintendo Entertainment System decades ago, leading to all sorts of holiday mischief, complete with showdowns with bullies and shopping mall heists.

Directed by Michael Dowse, 8-Bit Christmas premieres Nov. 24 on HBO Max.

Eternals

As Eternals opens in theaters worldwide, the powerful race of ancient heroes’ place in the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe is teased in the latest promo for the film. Including memorable moments from across the MCU’s history, the promo starts with a sizzle reel of some of the shared cinematic universe’s biggest superheroes before having the Eternals assemble to protect the world from Deviants as part of their lifelong mission.

Directed and co-written by Chloe Zhao, Eternals is in theaters now.

Hawkeye

The latest promo for Hawkeye focuses on the camaraderie between avenging archers Clint Barton and Kate Bishop as Kate reveals why exactly she wanted to become a superhero herself, with the two seen celebrating the Christmas season by taking on a tracksuit-wearing gang through the streets of New York City, holding off their attackers with a whole arsenal of trick arrows to even the odds.

Developed for television by Jonathan Igla, Hawkeye premieres Nov. 24 on Disney+.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0

After a successful anime series adaptation, Gege Akutami’s bestselling manga series Jujutsu Kaisen is getting an anime continuation film this December with Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Serving as a prequel to the main story, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 follows Yuta Okkotsu after he is cursed to be haunted by the spirit of his late girlfriend. And after encountering a sorcerer named Satoru Gojo, Yuta learns how to put this supernatural curse towards good use.

Directed by Sunghoo Park, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 premieres in Japan Dec. 24. No plans for an international release have currently been announced but the first season of the anime series is available to stream on Crunchyroll and Funimation.

Morbius

While Morbius has endured more than its fair share of pandemic-related delays, the Sony Spider-Verse film is poised to finally open in theaters in January. The latest trailer offers a more extensive look as Jared Leto’s Michael Morbius transforms into a living vampire while containing nods to Venom and multiple Spider-Man films, including the apparent return of Michael Keaton’s Vulture. And with an insatiable thirst for blood, Sony’s cinematic universe has gotten its most terrifying hero yet.

Directed by Daniel Espinosa, Morbius opens in theaters Jan. 28.

Pokémon Journeys

The popular anime series Pokémon Journeys is receiving a two-part special next month in Japan as the usual gang of aspiring Pokémon Trainers find themselves face-to-face with variants of themselves after Legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia tear apart the fabric of the space-time continuum in a cataclysmic showdown in the Sinnoh region, with Pokémon officially exploring the multiverse.

Previously released episodes of Pokémon Journeys are available to stream on Netflix.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City

The latest trailer for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City leans heavily on the survival horror elements that have made Resident Evil such an enduring video game franchise for 25 years. Recreating moments straight from the iconic games, the upcoming live-action movie teases the origins of the T-Virus as Chris Redfield leads a group of police officers to investigate the Spencer Mansion while his sister Claire tries her best to survive a zombie siege on Raccoon City’s police headquarters.

Written and directed by Johannes Roberts, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City opens in theaters Nov. 24.

The Rising of the Shield Hero

While The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2’s premiere has been pushed to next year, a new trailer offers fans an additional look at the continuing adventures of Naofumi Iwatani. Based on the light novel series by Aneko Yusagi, the latest trailer focuses on the warrior Raphtalia and her evolving dynamic with Naofumi as fighters from parallel universes join forces to repel waves of fearsome monsters.

Directed by Takao Abo, The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 2 premieres April 2022 and will be available to stream on Crunchyroll and Funimation.

Spy x Family

The anime adaptation of Tatsuya Endo’s popular manga series Spy x Family is coming next year, with a new trailer teasing the lethally clandestine comedy series. When covert operative Loid Forger is instructed to build a fake family for his latest assignment, the girl he adopts and woman he joins in a false marriage have secrets of their own, with the girl a telepath and his faux wife being an assassin herself.

Directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi, Spy x Family premieres in Japan in 2022, with international release details currently unannounced.

Supergirl

After six seasons, the Supergirl series finale is right around the corner, setting up one last, epic showdown against Lex Luthor and the Super Friends. With the stakes higher than ever, Alex Danvers vows to personally kill Lex while Kara promises she will rescue Alex and Kelly Olsen’s adopted daughter, Esme. The finale will also bring back many familiar fan-favorite faces from the Arrowverse series to close out the show in style.

Developed for television by Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler and Andrew Kreisberg, the Supergirl series finale airs Nov. 9 on The CW.
