Legs, mouth, tongue, bodyside panels, chimney are capable of simultaneous movement
A Howl’s Moving Castle fan has recreated the film’s eponymous moving castle and is pitching his work to LEGO IDEAS to potentially create an official LEGO set. The custom is equipped with a motorized system, making it capable not only of forward movement but also of moving its mouth, tongue, bodyside panels, and chimney simultaneously.
“Dated back in 2004, Howl’s Moving Castle remains one of the most beloved anime films even to this day. The film will also mark its 20th anniversary in 2024, thus it would be great to make a fully motorized model of this iconic steampunk fortress a real LEGO set on the special occasion,” wrote the project’s creator ericlego321 (otherwise known as Eric) in the LEGO IDEAS description.
Eric has also uploaded videos on his YouTube channel depicting the castle in motion.
The 1:100 scale set boasts around 2000 pieces. The project has gathered over 1,900 supporters on LEGO IDEAS within a month. It will be formally reviewed by LEGO and potentially approved for official distribution when it reaches 10,000 supporters.
Last year, two Naruto fan pitched an Ichiraku Ramen Shop LEGO set. Their project successfully accrued 10,000 supporters, but LEGO ultimately rejected the proposal. There has yet to be an official LEGO set based on an anime/manga series.
