Natsu is a character who can inspire anyone. He shows fans that there is always a way to win if they believe in themselves and trust those around them. Throughout Fairy Tail, Natsu stirs the hearts of his nakama and reminds them that there is always a brighter side to life, no matter how dark it gets.
No matter the trials and tribulations Natsu has to go through, he is the person the Fairy Tail Guild turns to when they need someone to pick them up and remind them that there is a purpose to everything they have gone through.
10 “The Minute You Think Of Giving Up, Think Of The Reason Why You Held On For So Long.”
Fairy Tail’s members were threatened when Hades’ Guild, Grimoire Heart, vows to destroy them. Natsu is reminded of all the pain Hades inflicted on his comrades and wants to make him disappear. Erza, Wendy, Gray, and Lucy all watch the battle between Natsu and Hades commence.
The impossible always becomes possible when Natsu wants to protect his nakama. His friends see him surpass his limits to defeat Hades all the while reminding his friends and the viewers that even when there seems to be no hope left, there is always a reason to keep going.
9 “I’ll Do Whatever It Takes To Win. Because If We Don’t Win, We Won’t Live To See Tomorrow”
During the Tartaros Arc, Lucy is forced to face the Dark Guild on her own. She was the only survivor of the Dark Guild’s attack. When facing one of the Demons, she is told that Happy and Natsu have died. Not believing them, she summons many of her celestial spirits and Aquarius, it is thanks to Lucy and Natsu’s interesting relationship that Lucy makes it out of this battle alive.
Lucy was reminded of something that Natsu had said earlier. His words were the reason that she was able to remain strong and continue fighting even if there was the possibility that everyone that she loves had died in the fight.
8 “If You Don’t Have The Courage To Change Things, You Might As Well Just Die!”
Natsu, during a conversation with Sting, lets him know why winning the Grand Magic Games is so crucial for Fairy Tail’s morale.
Natsu explains that victory is not about bragging rights, but about the suffering that his nakama had to endure while he was gone and that this was the least he could do for them for holding on. Victory for Fairy Tail meant that their family was complete again and there was no longer a struggle to prove their worth.
7 “We Won’t Lose To The Likes Of You Guys. & You Won’t Surpass Us. If You’re A Guild, Take Care Of Your Nakama. That’s All I Have To Say.”
Natsu is angered by Yukino’s treatment, a member of the Sabertooth Guild, after she had lost a fight during the Grand Magic Games. She was thrown out of the Guild and Natsu went there to pick a fight because, to him, being part of a Guild makes someone part of a family.
No one should be treated as if they are worthless, so Natsu attacks the Guild’s Master, Jiemma. After the fight, Natsu tells them that not only will Fairy Tail be the Number One Guild again but they will never lose to a Guild that does not care about each other.
6 “Breaking Things Is A Specialty Of Everybody In Fairy Tail”
Fairy Tail is well known throughout the series for destroying everything in their path, and this was no different when Natsu fought Jellal. In order to protect Erza and his promise to the late Simon, Natsu vowed to destroy the Tower of Heaven in order to put a stop to Jellal’s tyranny.
Natsu saw the strongest person he knows brought to tears and feel defeated, so he put everything on the line to show Jellal the Fairy Tail Guild’s strength. He shows the viewers how important it is to protect those you hold in your heart.
5 “The Real Fear Is The Thought That These Happy Days Might Not Continue. To Be Able To Laugh Together Once Again, We Have To Fight. Our Goal Is Not Victory! We’re Gonna Fight To Live! That’s Our Battle!”
Fighting to see another day was the goal for Fairy Tail when they had to fight against the Alvarez Empire. Easily one of their toughest enemies throughout the series there seemed to be little to no chance that Fairy Tail would be able to make it out unscathed. During the various battles, Natsu was the one person on who everyone could rely to remind them to keep going.
Natsu’s inspirational words were heard by everyone in the Guild no matter where they were on the battlefield. All of Fiore was touched by what he had to say and continued to fight on in order to continue to make memories with the people they love. This foe might’ve been strong, but the Fairy Tail wizards were stronger.
4 “If The Drive Behind One’s Actions Is The Thought For Another, Then It Is Never Meaningless. This Was Something You Taught Us.”
Master Makarov explains his failure in protecting his Fairy Tail children and Fiore from the Alvarez Empire. The Alvarez army, led by Zeref, was an extremely powerful enemy, but Natsu stepped up to remind the Master about Fairy Tail’s strength when they work together.
His strength and determination inspire his nakama to keep fighting. The guild is facing a life or death situation and Natsu believes that they will survive no matter what the circumstances are, which is something Master Makarov taught him.
3 “If I Run Out Of Power Today, Then I Will Borrow Some From Tomorrow!”
In a battle against King Faust during the Edolas Arc, Natsu inspires Gajeel and Wendy at a point where his comrades had given up on winning. King Faust was using the Dragon Knight to turn the Exceeds into lacrima to achieve a never-ending source of magic power.
It is apparent that the attacks against King Faust are not working as the armor is stealing the dragon slayer’s magic power. The destruction of Edolas is near but Natsu is quick to say that no matter what, he will find power from somewhere to defeat him, so that he can protect those he cares about.
2 “We All Have The Right To Choose Our Own Future. We Should Be Able To Walk The Paths That We Choose, Not The Future You’ve Decided For Us.”
Zeref set out the path that Natsu was supposed to follow. Natsu was created to destroy Zeref and in the end, Natsu would die as well. Natsu was determined to create his own path and not be sealed by his fate. He shows his brother that no matter what is thrown at him, he will not break but come back stronger.
Natsu’s desire to change the world was dependent on getting rid of Zeref, and although Natsu chose to fight Zeref, he refused to die because he knew he had so much more to live for. In order to change his fate, he had to survive even after Zeref had been defeated.
1 “Save The Tears For When We Win.”
During the Grand Magic Games Arc, Natsu and the rest of Fairy Tail had to fight to take back the position of top Guild. Natsu was determined to do anything to get back what his nakama had lost when their strongest members disappeared for seven years.
There were many times when winning seemed impossible. When Lucy was fighting Flare, Natsu had gone missing and after an unbearable loss, Lucy felt morally defeated. Natsu was there to let her know that this loss was not the end and there was no need to cry yet, as her tears should not be shed unless they were victorious.
