Breaking down each of the titles, Into the Pit is a retro-inspired roguelite first-person shooter. Players will be summoned to a cursed village where they must grow in power to save the civilians and destroy the demonic portal overwhelming the town. On the same day, players can look forward to shooter RPG Outriders as the game makes the jump to Xbox Game Pass PC.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is arguably one of the bigger inclusions to Xbox Game Pass in October. The stylish fighting game has been a consistent hint since its release in 2018, adapting the high-speed combat of the iconic manga and anime franchise into a tight competitive experience. If you’re looking for something more spooky, you can check out Echo Generation, an active turn-based RPG where players will need to upgrade their characters with new skills to save their town from fighting monsters and terrible mechs. Also on Oct. 21, Everspace 2 will see subscribers take to the stars in their own starship as they explore space, planets and everything in between.

Age of Empires IV is the other major addition to Xbox Game Pass, continuing the beloved strategy franchise with the first entry in 16 years. The standalone expansion for Remedy Entertainment’s psychological action thriller, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare is perfect for fans who’ve just completed the base game’s remaster. Players looking for a slow-burn mystery with gorgeous pixel art should check out Backbone while Bassmaster Fishing 2022 is a no-brainer for subscribers who dabble in hooks and worms.

Closing out the month, Nongunz: Doppelganger Edition is a “nihilistic action platformer roguelike” that is described as a “riddle that demands sacrifice.” If that creepy atmosphere doesn’t work for you, download The Forgotten City, a time-loop game that many critics have come to love for its intertwined characters and compelling writing.

Alongside the addition of spiffy new games, the next few weeks will include a selection of DLC and updates for titles already on the service. These include a new season for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, a significant content patch for Grounded and Halloween events for Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons.
