‘Dora the Explorer’ Screenwriter Hired for Star Wars: Rogue Squadron

From Deadline we’ve learned that Matthew Robinson, who wrote the recent Dora the Explorer movie and 2009’s The Invention of Lying, has been tapped to write the script for Patty Jenkins’ upcoming Star Wars film Rogue Squadron. This will be the first Star Wars film since the 2019 Rise of Skywalker which grossed $1.078 billion.

Since then the focus of Star Wars has been on Disney+ with The Mandalorian and The Bad Batch. Rogue Squadron is a Rebel Alliance starfighter squadron founded by Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles during the Galactic Empire’s attack on the Mako-Ta Space Docks. They have appeared in the extended universe, now called Legends, and in video games. Jenkin has said that she has wanted to do a film about fighter pilots all her life because of her father who was a fighter pilot. The film is set to be released December 22, 2023
