Daredevil alum Vincent D’Onofrio urges fans not to forget Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page as they congratulate Charlie Cox on his MCU future.

Vincent D’Onofrio, who portrayed Wilson Fisk/Kingpin on the Marvel Netflix series Daredevil, has encouraged fans not to forget the hard work of his co-star Deborah Ann Woll for her portrayal of Karen Page.

D’Onofrio took to Twitter for a series of congratulatory tweets following the recent news that Daredevil’s Charlie Cox may reprise the role of Matt Murdock in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After D’Onofrio offered the Daredevil lead a heartfelt congratulations, he then urged fans to also recognize Woll, writing “Let’s not forget about about [Deborah Ann Woll] and the depth she brought to the character of Karen Page, an incredible Marvel character.”

Between 2015 and 2019, Woll spent an extensive amount of time on-screen playing the supporting Daredevil character. In addition to playing a prominent story role throughout all three seasons of the series, Woll also appeared as Karen Page in the crossover miniseries The Defenders, as well as in both seasons of The Punisher.

Despite Page initially entering the story as a secretary for the Nelson & Murdock law firm, the character grew dramatically over the course of the Marvel Netflix saga. As the series progressed, Karen learned to grapple with her troubled past and even became an investigative journalist. Following the news of the Marvel Netflix series’ cancellation, Woll shared a farewell to the character on Instagram, writing “Most likely the final appearance of me playing Karen Page will be in The Punisher Season 2. I miss her very much.”

Earlier this week, Marvel Studios President/Marvel Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige confirmed that regardless of what Daredevil’s MCU future entails, it will involve Cox, saying “If you were to see Daredevil in upcoming things, Charlie Cox, yes, would be the actor playing Daredevil.” However, Feige confirmed nothing about Woll or other stars of Netflix’s Daredevil, which was canceled in 2018 following the end of the Marvel/Netflix partnership.

Throughout its three seasons of streaming, Netflix’s Daredevil earned critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase that has long promoted a movement to reboot the series, the #SaveDaredevil campaign. While Marvel has offered few hints about the future of the Daredevil property other than keeping Cox in the role, an allegedly leaked Daredevil hiring sheet may have confirmed some type of reboot is currently in the works.

In addition to Daredevil, Woll has led a successful career across film, television and the internet. After a long-running role on HBO’s True Blood, Woll went on to star in movies such as The Automatic Hate, Silver Lake and the Escape Room film series. As a fan of the tabletop roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons, Woll has also appeared in digital streaming series such as Critical Role and Relics and Rarities.
