The first teaser for The Flash was released at DC Fandome 2021, and it featured three different incarnations of Barry Allen/The Flash. But there was an even larger surprise in the conclusion. We got our first peek at Michael Keaton’s famous Batman cowl. Following that, social media was flooded with speculation regarding who might play Batman in the DCEU. We now have some information, and it’s likely to divide an already dwindling fandom.
On Saturday, the DCEU came under fire after a rumor about the impending Flash movie went viral on the internet. According to the Twitter account ‘MyTimeToShineHello,’ the next film starring Ezra Miller’s Flash and Michael Keaton’s Batman will serve as a soft reboot for the DCEU.

MyTimeToShineHello added that Andy Muschietti’s The Flash film would remove the ‘Snyderverse’ flicks from the main continuity. This latest development comes after speculations circulated that Keaton had taken over as the DCEU’s Batman, replacing Ben Affleck. Keaton’s casting in the planned DC HBOMax Batgirl movie as was disclosed last month.
For his part, Ezra Miller himself tried to swat away the rumors, but was so vague, he may have in fact confirmed the rumors.
Grace Randolph, of Behind the Trailer, also confirmed these reports on Twitter.

It’s absolutely no fun to cover all these upcoming #DC movies from a hateful perspective – it’s just too draining.

This means that instead of Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman, Sasha Calle’s Supergirl and Leslie Grace’s Batgirl will be “selected” as the new Batman replacement by a universe-hopping Michael Keaton, returning his previous, Burton-era role. At least, that’s the rumor.
This is our best indicator that Justice League 2 will not take place and that Aquaman 2 is the the ultimate end of the Snyderverse. So while Warner Bros. continues to go backwards with DC, Marvel actually laughs at them in their first live-action Spiderverse picture. If anyone sees this as a competition, DC is losing. Ultimately we won’t know what The Flash has in store for us until we see it, but I’m thinking there will be more internet fights between now and November.
