A trailer for the upcoming Disney+ Day celebrates two years of streaming Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic content.
Ahead of the streamer’s two-year anniversary later this month, Disney+ gets the celebration started early with an all-new trailer for the inaugural Disney+ Day.
Uploaded to the official Disney+ YouTube channel, the trailer celebrates a variety of both current and upcoming movies, shows and documentaries. Viewers are bound to recognize something from the streamer’s vast catalog of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic content across the nearly two-and-a-half minute trailer, though a number of films and series featured will premiere on Disney+ Day itself.
Nov. 12 will see the arrival of Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings, Jungle Cruise (non-Premier Access), several episodes from the second season of The World According to Jeff Goldblum and a new Disney+ Original movie called Home Sweet Home Alone. What’s more, the streamer’s two-year anniversary will also see the debut of a new series of Walt Disney animated shorts called Olaf Presents, the musical short Frozen Fever and the Pixar short film Ciao Alberto. A new Star Wars documentary titled Under the Helmet: The Legacy of Boba Fett is set to release as well as the drama miniseries Dopesick and an untitled Marvel Cinematic Universe special.
Nov. 12 will mark the streamer’s first celebrated anniversary after Disney+ launched on Nov. 12, 2019, with Disney+ Day offering subscribers not only high-demand films but a special presentation that will provide a glimpse into future content. Some major projects that may be shown include the Big Hero 6 spinoff series Baymax! from Walt Disney Animation Studios in addition to Pixar’s first long-form series Win or Lose. A number of Marvel and Star Wars Disney+-exclusives are in the works as well, such as Moon Knight starring Oscar Isaac and the solo Ahsoka Tano series with Rosario Dawson.
The early Disney+ Day celebrations have also seen the surprise announcement of a new Simpsons short. Promising cameos from characters across the streaming service, such as a piece of key art teasing a meeting between Homer and Goofy, The Simpsons in Plusaversary follows the infamous Springfield family putting on a Disney+ Day party, “and everyone is on the list… except Homer.”
Boasting over 115 million subscribers in the company’s latest earnings call, Disney+ managed to rebound from falling 7 million subscribers short of analysts’ predictions for the previous quarter’s earnings, as the last few months of its third quarter saw 13 million new subscriptions alone. Meanwhile, across Disney’s other streaming services, including Hulu and ESPN+, the company’s direct-to-customer division brought in more than $4 billion in total.
