Disney+ Day Event Set for November, Ahead of Comic-Con

[ad_1]

Disney CEO Bob Chapek announces Disney+ Day, a cross-promotional event featuring announcements for future projects set to take place in November.

Disney+ is the latest entity to announce its very own event highlighting its upcoming projects.

During The Walt Disney Company’s Q3 earnings call, company CEO Bob Chapek announced Disney+ Day, which will feature announcements pertaining to the streaming platform’s future releases. Disney+ Day will take place later this year on Friday, Nov. 12 — the two-year anniversary of the service’s launch. This date also puts Disney+ Day ahead of Comic-Con Special Edition, which is currently expected to take place over Thanksgiving weekend.

Chapek described Disney+ Day as “a balanced approach between global and local product.” As part of the event, Nov. 12 will see the Disney+ debut of Home Sweet Home Alone, as well as the no-fee release of Jungle Cruise. Additional releases and incentives will be announced as well, with the intention being to win over new subscribers. Said Chapek, “It gives us an opportunity to provide a focal point for consumers who may not have tripped over to Disney+.”

Disney+ already has some major projects coming down the pipeline from some of Disney’s various divisions and subsidiaries. For example Walt Disney Animation Studios is currently working on Baymax!, a series based on the film Big Hero 6 that is set to premiere on Disney+ next year. Speaking of animation, Pixar is working on its first long form series, Win or Lose, for the platform as well. Then, of course, both the Marvel and Star Wars universes have a slew of Disney+-exclusives currently in the works.
