Known as the elites amongst the Demon Slayers, these nine warriors are the best of their craft. Many Demon Slayers look up to the best of the best, including Tanjiro and his friends.
In order to differentiate themselves from the rest of the crowd, these Hashira choose to make a fashion statement by modifying their outfits to better reflect their own unique personalities and individuality. But who is able to pull off the best look?
9 Muichiro Tokito – Simple Isn’t Always Bad
Unfortunately, there isn’t too much of Muichiro to look at in terms of his fashion choices. His uniform is a dark turquoise hue and more like loose-fitting kimono, but it could be due to his short stature. The Mist Hashira doesn’t sport any flashy designs or a unique cape with his uniform, but simple isn’t always bad.
8 Sanemi Shinazugawa – Blunt, Unlike His Sword
A sleeveless, more open uniform is most fitting for the Wind Hashira. His design could be a reference to his personality – hot-blooded and unrestrained but to the point. The uniform is green-tinted coupled with a white shirt instead of the usual haori. On its back is the kanji for “kill” etched in bold lettering. For those who know Sanemi’s hatred for demons, he can’t get any blunter than that.
7 Mitsuri Kanroji – Form-fitting Femininity
The Love Hashira’s style may appear simple, but it has that subtle hint of feminine flair. Mitsuri’s uniform is modified to her form, replacing the hakama pants with a short, pleated skirt to show off her legs.
The uniform is tinted pink and unbuttoned in the chest area, similar to Sanemi’s, and adorned with a white haori Rengoku gifted her. Another gift she received was a pair of lime green thigh-highs from Obanai. She layers them with the dark blue pair underneath.
6 Obanai Iguro – Rigid And Unyielding
The Serpent Hashira’s strictness shows in his dress code, but he still maintains his individuality. His navy blue uniform is coupled with a black and white haori of a unique pattern. The haori is pinstriped in these neutral colors, but the hem and cuff stripes move vertically instead of the main horizontal design.
The bandages he uses around his mouth also cover his legs in place of the usual Kyahan, a type of leggings specifically used by samurai retainers. Perhaps Obanai wanted that air of uniqueness to his uniform?
5 Gyomei Himejima – Buddhist Through And Through
Known as the “gentle giant” of the Hashira, Gyomei Himejima’s uniform is a combination of simplicity and striking. He wears the same black and white Demon Slayer uniform down to the shoes.
However, instead of the usual haori, Gyomei has a happi coat of an olive green tone with a boldly written Buddhist chant covering the happi’s collar and along the back. To top it off, Gyomei sports a large, crimson beaded necklace. He can’t forget his ojuzu, or prayer beads, religiously chanting with them when he’s not in battle.
4 Giyu Tomioka – A Sentimental Tribute
Even for a stoic and quiet man, Giyu still manages to stand out. Like Tengen, he wears the dark blue version of the Demon Slayer uniform, but his haori is undoubtedly noticeable. The garment divides the middle into two patterns – one side is a solid crimson red, and the other is a green, yellow, and orange geometric pattern.
These patterns hold a special meaning for Giyu – his older sister, Tsukako, wore a kimono of the same solid red hue, while his late friend, Sabito, donned the tricolor geometric fabric.
3 Kyojuro Rengoku – Bringing The Heat
Since the Demon Slayer movie’s release, Kyojuro quickly became a fan favorite. His energetic and optimistic attitude is displayed in both his appearance and uniform.
Unlike most of the Hashira, Kyojuro’s uniform is entirely brown, including the accompanying jacket. His haori, however, shows off his title as the Flame Hashira. The yellow and red gradient can be seen at the bottom of the haori, his leggings, and his voluminous hair, mimicking a fire-like pattern. Kyojuro’s style isn’t too far from Tengen in boldness.
2 Shinobu Kocho – Decidedly Delicate
Although not as flashy as Tengen, Shinobu’s style brings an air of mystery and beauty to her character. Her uniform is the standard Demon Slayer uniform, but her haori easily captures attention. To match her title as the Insect Hashira, Shinobu’s haori models butterfly wings. They’re white but fade into a soft green and then pink.
Fans can’t forget Shinobu’s iconic debut, where it seemed as if she was floating in mid-air. Her haori sleeves stretched out with her arms, giving the appearance of a butterfly.
1 Tengen Uzui – Appropriately Loud
The Sound Hashira pulls no punches when it comes to flashiness. He stands by his eccentric lifestyle and isn’t afraid to show that in his style of dress.
Compared to the basic black Demon Slayer uniform, Tengen’s is a dark shade of blue and sleeveless to show off his bulky arms and shoulders. Sparkling stones and gold rings adorn him from head to toe, with bright red eye make-up surrounding his left eye. Complemented with his boisterous personality, Tengen is a sight to behold.
