Demon Slayer has a lot of interesting characters and the anime does a good job of making people like them right off the bat. Even after seeing some characters for only a short period of time, their introductions made them intriguing and easy to like.
Not only the demon slayers get epic introductions as even the demons get their time to shine. These introductions give fans a general idea of the personalities of any given character. These characters are essential to the story, and their introductions set the tone for their roles in the series.
10 Sakonji Urokodaki Was A Stern But Kind Master
After encountering Giyu Tomioka in the forest, Tanjiro went in search of Urokodaki whom Giyu had told him to find. Tanjiro fought a demon in a temple and while he was about the finish it off, Urokodaki showed up wearing a tingu mask. Tanjiro was shocked at the man’s stealth and questioned who he was. After rebuking Tanjiro for hesitating to kill the demon, Urokodaki took Tanjiro in as his student.
9 Rui Was A Deceptive Looking Demon
While fighting in a mountain, Tanjiro and Inosuke encountered a little demon boy perched atop a web. After that, the boy was seen threatening the demon he called his mother, urging her to quickly dispose of the demon slayers. His mother was scared of his threat which prompted viewers to wander who that boy demon was. It was only after Tanjiro enraged him that viewers discovered that this boy wasn’t some ordinary demon, but one of the twelve Kizuki.
8 Muzan’s Introduction Left Many Terrified
Tanjiro’s master revealed the name of the demon that slaughtered Tanjiro’s family, and he was hell bent on finding him. While in a crowded city, Tanjiro picked up on Muzan’s scent and rushed to confront him. When Tanjiro caught up with him, he was shocked to see that he had a child and a wife – a seemingly happy family.
Before Tanjiro could do anything else, Muzan quickly turned an innocent passerby into a demon to divert Tanjiro’s attention. When Tanjiro went to hold the guy down, Muzan walked away with his family, much to Tanjiro’s frustration.
7 Zenitsu Seemed Like A Weakling But He Soon Proved Otherwise
Tanjiro ran into Zenitsu after completing his previous mission while the latter was desperately proposing marriage to a girl. Zenitsu was easy to dislike because of his constant fear and yelling. Almost anything could frighten him which begged the question of how he even became a demon slayer. It was not until his encounter with a demon in Kyogai’s mansion that fans learned the truth about him. He’s a total badass when he’s asleep, and he displayed just that when he fell asleep and killed the demon in the blink of an eye.
6 Sabito Wanted Tanjiro To Become Stronger
Tanjiro found himself unable to complete the final task his master gave him – and who wouldn’t? It is hard to slit a boulder with a sword. While ranting about how impossible it was, Tanjiro was rebuked by Sabito who was perched atop the boulder. Sabito told Tanjiro to quit complaining and act like a man, then engaged Tanjiro in combat and swiftly defeated him. He pointed out that Tanjiro had merely memorized his training but his body was still clueless on what to do.
5 The Master Of The Demon Slayer Corps
While at the meeting to discuss Tanjiro’s fate for traveling with a demon, Tanjiro had a scuffle with one of the Hashira. Just then, the master’s presence was announced, and Kagaya Ubuyashiki entered. Tanjiro was still oblivious as to what was going on and before he could do anything else, he was forced to genuflect.
It was then that he realized he was the only one not paying his respects. All the Hashira were on their knees and on their best behavior. One had to wonder what kind of person Ubuyashiki was to incur such respect from the mightiest.
4 Giyu Tomioka Was The First Demon Slayer Viewers Ever Got To See
After finding out his family had been killed by a demon, Tanjiro took his sister who had been turned into a demon to get help. He was attacked by Giyu Tomioka who was out hunting demons. Tanjiro did what he could to protect his sister, but Giyu was too strong for him. Nezuko, who was now a demon, began fighting Giyu to protect Tanjiro, much to Giyu’s surprise. Giyu was shocked to see that Nezuko opted to protected Tanjiro rather that devour him. He decided to spare her and advised Tanjiro on what to do going forward.
3 The Hashira’s Introduction Was Interesting
Tanjiro was tied up and presented to the Hashira to face judgement for harboring a demon. Tanjiro had not the slightest clue who they were or what their title entailed. He was only concerned with the whereabouts of his sister, much to the annoyance of the Kakushi. They urged Tanjiro to pay his respects to the Hashira who were introduced as the nine most powerful swordsmen in the Demon Slayer Corps.
2 Inosuke Is A Wild As They Come
Inosuke’s introduction was nothing short of epic. It was obvious he was going to be a cherished character throughout the series. While Tanjiro was busy coming up with ways to defeat Kyogai, Inosuke came barging in with a lot of flare, musical score blasting away. Everything from his character design to his personality was intriguing and fans could already guess that he was one hell of a fighter. He declared that he was going to slay Kyogai and soar to new heights. His courage was awe-inspiring.
1 Akaza’s Appearance Was Simply Riveting
Tanjiro and his companions successfully defeated Enmu and ensured the safety of the 200 passengers onboard the Mugen Train. While Flame Hashira Rengoku was attending to the injured Tanjiro, Akaza appeared out of nowhere. His presence was no good omen at all, but they way he just showed up to fight was breathtaking. Ufotable did everything right here – from the soundtrack to the animation, everything was top notch. All thing considered, Akaza had the most epic entrance so far.
