PlayStation has announced the December lineup for PlayStation Plus, and as usual, it includes a PlayStation 5 game and two PlayStation 4 games.
The three titles up for grabs this month are Godfall: Challenger Edition, which is available as both a PS5 and PS4 game, and Lego DC Super-Villains and Mortal Shell, both of which are PS4 games. However, both Lego DC Super-Villains and Mortal Shell will be playable on PS5 thanks to backward compatibility.
Last month, the PlayStation Plus lineup consisted of six games: Knockout City, Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, First Class Trouble, The Persistence, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, and Until You Fall. The latter three are PSVR titles, and they’re still available alongside this month’s new PlayStation Plus lineup, and they’ll remain available for players to add to their libraries until January 3.
Getting back to this month’s lineup, though, Godfall: Challenger Edition focuses on three unique modes, according to PlayStation: Lightbringer, Dreamstones, and the Ascended Tower of Trials. All three modes are considered endgame content, but players will be “immediately equipped with a spread of deadly weapons and skill points, letting you team up with up to two other players in co-op.”
The Challenger Edition does not include the base game, nor does it include the newer Fire & Darkness campaign, but players can upgrade at any time to the Deluxe Edition to gain access to them. For more about Godfall, check out our thoughts on it in Game Informer’s Godfall review.
Lego DC Super-Villains is a unique Lego game set in the DC universe in that while it features the heroes you’ve come to know and love in other Lego DC games, this one’s centered on DC super-villains, as its name would suggest. If you’ve played a Lego DC game before, you know what you’re in for, except you can expect to hear the Joker laugh a lot more. Read our thoughts on it in Game Informer’s Lego DC Super-Villains review.
The final free game in the December PlayStation Plus lineup is Mortal Shell, a game heavily inspired by From Software’s Dark Souls series.
“Mortal Shell is a ruthless and deep single-player action-RPG that tests your sanity and resilience in a shattered world,” PlayStation’s blog post reads. “As the remains of humanity wither and rot, zealous foes fester in the ruins. They spare no mercy, with survival demanding superior awareness, precision, and instincts. Track down hidden sanctums of devout followers and discover your true purpose.”
Check out our Game Informer Mortal Shell hub for more information about the game.
All three of these games will go live for PlayStation Plus subscribers to add to their libraries next Tuesday, December 7, and everyone will have until Monday, January 3, to grab them. While waiting for December 7, be sure to add November’s PlayStation Plus games to your library before these new ones drop.
