Deadpool 3’s MCU Coming-Out Plot Teased by the Writers
Fans have been asking for more details ever since it was revealed that Deadpool would join the MCU and that his films would remain R-rated. In order to promote their new film, Spiderhead, authors Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese have now issued a small tease. After the Fox/Disney merger, Deadpool’s third film was in doubt for a spell, putting him in a precarious position.
Fans might have lost out in this situation because they thought the brand would either be dropped or compelled to adhere to the MCU’s standard PG-13 classification. All bets were off, though, once it was revealed that Deadpool 3 would aim for its customary R rating.
Now, Reese has given a first hint at the type of movie we can expect when Deadpool presumably forms part of the MCU’s Phase 5. Speaking to Post Cred Pod, the writer said:
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for fish-out-of-water. Deadpool is a lunatic at the center of a movie. To drop a lunatic into a very sane world, it’s straight butter. It’s going to be really fun.”
We might have a more precise timeline for Deadpool’s return in the coming months because Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige is prepared to lay out the MCU’s future roadmap.
