McFarlane Toys releases a new figurine that sees the villainous Inque embrace her shapeshifting abilities to transform into the Caped Crusader.
A new Batman Beyond figurine sees one of Terry McGinnis’ nemeses disguise herself as the Tomorrow Knight.
McFarlane Toys announced a figure based on Inque, using her shapeshifting abilities to take on the form of McGinnis’ Batman of the future. The toy’s description reveals that in this new form, Inque will attempt to frame Batman “for a crime he didn’t commit.” The figurine is “designed with Ultra Articulation with up to 22 moving parts for full range of posing and play” and includes a batarang, base and collectible art card that features the villain’s biography on the back. Inque isn’t the only villain from Batman Beyond that McFarlane Toys has reimagined in toy form. McFarlane Toys also announced the Meltdown Variant of Blight, also known as Derek Powers, the corrupt CEO of Wayne-Powers, who used his wealth and power to create deadly weapons for the government.
Both Inque and Blight made their debuts in the animated series Batman Beyond, which originally aired from January 1999 to December 2001, producing 52 episodes. The show depicts a teenage Batman — Terry McGinnis — taking on the mantle of the Dark Knight under the tutelage of an elderly Bruce Wayne. Batman Beyond quickly became a fan favorite and won multiple awards, including two Daytime Emmys and two Annie Awards. Although the series enjoyed a relatively brief time on air, it has endured with various inclusions throughout Batman-focused shows, video games and the like.
There have been more developments in the Batman Beyond franchise beyond the new Inque and Blight figurines. Most notably, it has been confirmed that veteran comic book artist Sean Gordon Murphy will continue his unique vision of the Dark Knight in a new title, Batman: Beyond the White Knight, which will continue his previous White Knight storylines and see Terry join the action.
Moreover, there are other Batman toys forthcoming to the delight of superhero fans. McFarlane Toys is accepting preorders for its Batwoman Unmasked figure, which showcases Elainna Grayson in her vigilante attire, and Sideshow Collectibles recently revealed a 31.5″ statue that recreates the classic cover of Lynn Varley and Frank Miller’s Batman: The Dark Knight Returns #1 (1986).
The Inque and Blight figurines retail for $19.99 and can be ordered on McFarlane Toys’ Store, Target, GameStop, Big Bad Toy Store and Entertainment Earth.
