DC vs. Vampires Forces the Batman Family to Do Something Drastically Different (Exclusive Preview)

[ad_1]

As DC vs. Vampires raises the stakes, Batman assembles his allies to change up their crimefighting strategy in order to face the undead in Issue #2.

The horror-tinged maxi-series DC vs. Vampires is exploring a blood-soaked vision of the DC Universe as the world’s vampires rally together to target the superheroes and completely subjugate humanity. And as the losses begin, with the Justice League already targeted, Batman decides to employ drastic changes in his efforts to save the DCU.

In an exclusive preview of DC vs. Vampires #2 from DC, Nightwing and the rest of the Bat-Family are puzzled when the Dark Knight has them convene at stately Wayne Manor during the daytime in a complete reversal of their usual nocturnal modus operandi. And as the Bat-Family listen on in horror, Batman briefs them on the full scope of the undead menace they now face that threatens to consume the entire DCU in the preview, written by James Tynion IV and Matthew Rosenberg, illustrated by Otto Schmidt and lettered by Tom Napolitano.

  • The war for the very survival of the human race has begun! A mysterious new vampire lord has already put a plan in motion to conquer the Earth, and the first step is—destroy the Justice League! But the World’s Greatest Detective might be Earth’s last hope, and it’s time for the Bat-Family to hunt!

Slated to run for 12 issues, Rosenberg observed in a roundtable interview with CBR that, by having the story set in an alternate universe rather than the main DCU, DC vs. Vampires has really gotten to cut loose and inflict some terrifying stakes for the characters. The opening issue had vampiric hero Andrew Bennett attempt to warn the Justice League about the imminent threat only to discover that he was already far too late to prevent the vampires from claiming first blood.

And while Lex Luthor has given Batman and his allies the heads-up of the vampire armies targeting them from the shadows, with the Caped Crusader changing up his strategy accordingly, the heroes are still on the defensive as the vampires turn those closest to them into bloodthirsty monsters.

Written by James Tynion IV and Matthew Rosenberg and illustrated by Otto Schmidt, DC vs. Vampires #2 goes on sale Nov. 23 from DC.
