December’s Future State: Gotham #8 by Dennis Culver and Nikola Čižmešija will introduce an all-new version of the Joker in the potential DC future.
An upcoming story arc in Future State: Gotham is primed to introduce a new future version of the Joker.
Writer Dennis Culver announced he’s taking over full writing duties on Future State: Gotham starting with December’s Issue #8. “Big News! I’m taking over the FULL writing duties of FUTURE STATE GOTHAM with issue 8 kicking off the new arc entitled THE NEXT JOKER,” Culver wrote on Twitter. “Part one is drawn by @NikolaCizmesija and features this AMAZING cover by @SimoneDiMeo_. Gotham isn’t ready for this BRAND NEW Joker! PREORDER!”
The cover of Future State: Gotham #8 by artist Simone Di Meo offers the first look at the all-new Joker set to terrorize Gotham City of the future. The character is dressed in a chessboard-designed bodysuit, with the Joker’s signature wide-grinning smile on the face. It appears this Joker has a mask on its head, along with glowing red eyes and green Joker toxin radiating off the head into the nighttime air. A police car appears to be on fire in the background, and buildings and digital billboards bear the Joker’s logo.
Culver has collaborated with Joshua Williamson on writing duties for Future State: Gotham. The series is a spinoff of DC’s Future State publishing initiative; specifically, the developments in the Batman Family of titles. Jason Todd, aka Red Hood, switched sides to align with the Magistrate and hunt down vigilantes, even taking on the mantle of Peacekeeper Red. However, Red Hood is only working with the Magistrate to take them down from inside. Future State: Gotham has also featured a team-up with the Next Batman, Jace Fox.
Future State: Gotham #8 goes on sale in December from DC.
