A teaser for DC FanDome spotlights eight films and six actors who have taken on the mantle of Batman, from Michael Keaton to Robert Pattinson.
DC FanDome saw its latest promo drop with a slick montage showcasing eight films and six different actors’ embodiments of The Batman.
The half-minute clip posted to the official DC Comics Twitter, pays homage to the Bruce Waynes of cinema’s past and future: Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck and, finally, Robert Pattinson. Highlighting the prestige of each star’s contributions to their respective works, the post urges viewers to “honor the Dark Knight’s big screen adventures and more at #DCFanDome,” which will stream live on Oct. 16.
The teaser proceeds chronologically from Tim Burton’s era of the ’80s and early ’90s all the way up to next year’s The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves and starring Pattinson. Touching briefly on Joel Schumacher’s stewardship of the franchise, which included performances from Kilmer and Clooney, the video jumps to Christopher Nolan’s renewal of the mythos with The Dark Knight Trilogy. It concludes with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, starring Affleck as Batman, and a quick preview of Reeves’ anticipated release.
Drawing heavily from Batman: Year One, Frank Miller’s groundbreaking 1987 comic, Reeve’s The Batman will come with an attendant television universe. Gotham PD and a potential project about the Penguin are each drawing attention to HBO Max, with a show about a young Commissioner Gordon as another possibility.
Fans can now register for and tune in to DC FanDome on Oct. 16. The Batman arrives in theaters on March 4, 2022.
