The next big patch for CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 will be accompanied by a smaller piece of free DLC content, including jackets and a car.
The latest update to CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 is a new piece of free DLC content, although it’s smaller than expected with only a few cosmetic additions, including a jacket and a car.
The reveal of the DLC’s contents was announced during a Twitch live stream that discussed the updates in Patch 1.3. It was stated that the free DLC was to be considered a bonus accompaniment to the main patch, like a free goody bag. The DLC will include two new jackets for V to wear, as well as the Archer Quartz “Bandit” car, and finally an alternative outfit for Johnny Silverhand.
Upon downloading the content, the new items will be viewable under the Additional Content section in the Main Menu. As for where the items can be found in the open world, the jackets will be available alongside V’s other clothes in their apartment. The items will be listed as Rare/Iconic in terms of quality and they become accessible to the player following the main story mission The Ride. The car will similarly be locked behind the story mission Ghost Town, after which it will be made available for purchase.
Patch 1.3 is one in a series of large steps in the game’s road to recovery following its infamously buggy launch. Following on from a few quick hotfixes, the larger patches included one of the longest patch notes ever released, with Patch 1.3 set to be even bigger. It was only recently that the game returned to the PlayStation store following its initial removal due to its poor release state.
Commenting on the upcoming patch and subsequent free DLC, senior-level designer Miles Toast said, “This patch is our biggest one to date. We’re putting a lot of effort into this one, so consider the DLCs that we have now as sort of goodies, sort of cherries on top. The reality of course, and we’ve talked about this in the past, is that we differentiate a bit between different kinds of extra content, between DLCs, additional items of which we will have plenty coming down the road, and of course the giant expansion passes which we will have something to say about later.”
Despite the announcement, the patch and DLC’s release dates remain unconfirmed. CDPR previously set a precedent for dense DLC content with the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt‘s expansions. Both games were stated to be receiving next-gen updates later this year, although the release dates have also remained unannounced.
Developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Google Stadia.
