Crystal Dynamics Reveals First In-Game Clips of Spider-Man

Crystal Dynamics reveals some of the Spider-Man’s entrances, alongside two eye-catching skins, ahead of his arrival in Marvel’s Avengers.

Developer Crystal Dynamics revealed a couple of Spider-Man’s entrances and costumes in Marvel’s Avengers.

Both clips, which were posted to the official Marvel’s Avengers Twitter, show Peter Parker swinging into the action. The first entrance features Spider-Man dramatically landing from a web-swing, dressed in the Bugle Boy Suit. The second brief video highlights the Spider-Armor Mark 1 Suit, as Peter Parker flies through the air before yanking himself to the ground. Neither video has sound, meaning fans will likely have to wait a little longer to hear their first in-game “Thwip.” Both clips also take place in what appears to be a harbor in New York City.

“In the comics, Peter’s attempts to live a normal life are often thwarted by the need to be Spider-Man. The Bugle Boy Outfit celebrates his constant call to action with a sweater vest, jeans, and trademark-mask. It makes taking pictures of Spider-Man that much easier, you know?” reads the tweet accompanying the Bugle Boy clip. The message posted alongside the Spider-Armor video simply states that the in-game costume is based on Alex Saviuk’s design from Web of Spider-Man #100, wherein Peter Parker goes up against Super-Adaptoid.

While both entrances briefly tease Spider-Man’s web-swinging, Crystal Dynamics has yet to show off how the heroes’ mobility will manifest in-game. The cinematic reveal trailer confirmed that players will be able to able swing around the battlefield while also using Spidey’s webs to stun enemies. As for the minutia of Peter’s moveset, the developer will likely share more in-depth information in the near future.

“Players will experience Spider-Man’s story through unlockable challenges woven throughout the Avengers Initiative. Peter Parker learns of a deadly new threat and must partner with the Avengers to stop AIM from acquiring technology that could make their synthoid army unstoppable,” reads the official description of the With Great Power Hero Event. “Insistent on keeping his identity hidden, Parker forms a tentative friendship with Ms. Marvel and Black Widow and must struggle with the new dynamics of working with a team. Will he join up full time with the Avengers, or stay independent in his fight against AIM?”

While fans of Spider-Man and The Avengers are undoubtedly excited to finally swing into action, there is a catch to the hero’s introduction: He’ll only be available to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players. The character’s console exclusivity has angered long-time fans of Marvel’s Avengers who believe locking a new hero to a specific console splits the game’s playerbase.

Spider-Man will be available in Marvel’s Avengers on Nov. 30 via a free update for PS4 and PS5.
