On October 12, Chucky, created for television by Don Mancini, premiered on the American cable channel, Syfy and on USA Network. The Chucky series continues the overarching narrative of the previous seven films and takes place after the events of Cult of Chucky. The show explores the murder sprees that ensue in an idyllic American town when a Good Guy doll is found at a yard sale, as well as Charles Lee Ray’s untold origins as a child killer turned murderous doll.
As the series progresses, Chucky will encounter some familiar faces, both friend and foe alike, who will either plot against him or rally with him. Chucky continues to gain worldwide popularity with every weekly episode, so now is the perfect time to get a closer look at the cast and characters behind the reinvention of the iconic killer doll franchise.
Brad Dourif as Chucky (Voice)
Chucky is the main antagonist of the Child’s Play slasher film franchise. Born Charles Lee Ray, Chucky was a ruthless serial killer who, as he was bleeding out from a gunshot wound, transferred his soul into a “Good Guy” doll. Since then, he has continuously tried to reclaim a human form.
Brad Dourif is the original voice actor for Chucky in the Child’s Play franchise film trilogy: Child’s Play (1988), Child’s Play 2 (1990), and Child’s Play 3 (1991). He also starred in Child’s Play‘s successors, Bride of Chucky (1998), Seed of Chucky (2004), Curse of Chucky (2013), and Cult of Chucky (2017). Dourif is no stranger to the horror genre. His most notable roles include appearing in Rob Zombie’s Halloween (2007) and Halloween II (2009) as Sherrif Lee Brackett and playing The Gemini Killer in William Peter Blatty’s The Exorcist III.
Zachary Arthur as Jake Wheeler
Just 15 years old, Zachary Arthur portrays Jake Wheeler, a social outcast and the unfortunate owner of Chucky. Jack lives in Hackensack with his alcoholic father and purchases Chucky from a yard sale with the plan to dismember him for an artistic doll sculpture.
Zachary Wheeler is best known for playing Sammy Sullivan in The 5th Wave (2016), but his notable acting credits include portraying Josh Ryan in Brian Taylor’s horror, Mom and Dad (2017), and a recurring role as a young Jeff Piccirillo on the comedy-drama series, Kidding (2018-2020).
Carina Battrick as Carolin Cross
As a lesser-known child actor, soon to be an up-and-coming star from her role in Chucky, Carina Battrick plays Carolin Cross, Lexy Cross’ little sister. Carolin develops a fascination with Chucky, to the disturbing extent of wanting to own him. As Lexy describes her, Carolin “doesn’t like to be touched” and can be exceedingly bright and talented, but also as demanding as most spoiled girls are.
At just five years old, Carina had her breakthrough role in the TV series, Impulse (2018), where she portrayed a young Henry Coles. She also appeared as Michelle in Elissa Down’s comedy-drama, Feel The Beat (2020).
Bjorgvin Arnarson as Devon Evans
Bjorgvin Arnarson portrays Devon Evans, a true crime podcaster who befriends Jake Wheeler and becomes his love interest. While Arnarson has a smaller role, his significance is underscored as the narrative develops.
His popularity will likely skyrocket from appearing in Chucky, but Bjorgvin had already landed the role as Carson in Justin P. Lange’s horror-mystery, The Seventh Day (2021). In Bentley Kyle Evans’ comedy series, Family Time (2012-2020), Arnarson portrayed Elijah.
Alyvia Alyn Lind as Lexy Cross
Alyvia Alyn Lind portrays the overbearing and insensitive Lexy Cross, who is dating Junior Wheeler and bullying Jake Wheeler. Lexy is the stereotypically snotty teenager. She believes that the world revolves around her, belittles others at every turn, and presents herself as rude and unlikeable.
Lind has some significant acting roles under her belt; she made her feature film debut in Scott Stewart’s Dark Skies (2013), but she is most known for her role as Faith Newman on the serial Opera, The Young and The Restless (1973-). Furthermore, she portrayed a nine-year-old Dolly Parton in the made-for-television movie, Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors (2015).
Teo Briones as Junior Wheeler
Junior Wheeler, portrayed by Teo Briones, is Jake Wheeler’s cousin and Lexy Cross’ boyfriend. He was born into wealth and lived a lavish lifestyle, including having a housemaid since he was born. He can be just as unbearable as Lexy at times, but his intentions are purer than hers.
Besides landing the role as Junior in Chucky, Briones portrayed Peter in the Netflix series, Ratched (2020) and provided the voice of Carlos in the children’s TV series, Doc McStuffins (2013-2016).
