Chucky Poster Promises a Deadly ‘Coming of Rage’ Story

[ad_1]

A new poster for Syfy and USA’s Chucky describes the upcoming horror series as a “classic coming of rage story.”

Syfy and the USA Network have unveiled a brand-new poster for Chucky, their upcoming television series that serves as a continuation of the Child’s Play film franchise.

The poster, shared to USA’s official Twitter account, features the main cast of Chucky, with the eponymous killer doll’s reflection appearing in a knife. The poster’s caption describes the series as “a classic coming of rage story.” USA’s Twitter caption echoes this, reading, “A coming of rage story and these kids are trapped in the middle of it all.”

Executive produced by Child’s Play creator Don Mancini, the Chucky series as a sequel to the 2017 film Cult of Chucky. The seventh film in the Child’s Play series, Cult of Chucky itself served as a follow-up to Child’s Play (1988), Child’s Play 2 (1990), Child’s Play 3 (1991), Bride of Chucky (1998), Seed of Chucky (2004) and Curse of Chucky (2013). Syfy and USA’s Chucky ignores the 2019 remake of Child’s Play, which was made without Mancini’s involvement.

Mancini wrote all eight episodes of Chucky‘s first season, also serving as director on the premiere episode. Mancini co-wrote the script for the original Child’s Play, which was directed by filmmaker Tom Holland (not to be confused with the Spider-Man actor). Mancini then served as the sole screenwriter of the following six Child’s Play films, also serving as director on the latter three.

Syfy and USA’s Chucky stars Zackary Arthur as Jake Wheeler; Teo Briones as Junior Wheeler; Alyvia Alyn Lind as Lexy Cross; Björgvin Arnarson as Devon Evans; Devon Sawa as Logan Wheeler and Lucas Wheeler; Lexa Doig as Bree Wheeler; and Barbara Alyn Woods as Mayor Michelle Cross. A number of cast members from the Child’s Play franchise’s past are also set to reprise their roles for the TV series, including Alex Vincent as Andy Barclay, Christine Elise McCarthy as Kyle, Fiona Dourif as Nica Pierce, Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany Valentine and, of course, Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky.

An official synopsis for Chucky reads as follows:

After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. An evil too great to play on just one network.
