Carnage Gives Venom Beyond’s Anne & Codex Grim Endings in a DEADLY Epilogue

[ad_1]

Thanks to Carnage, the world of “Venom Beyond” took a surprising turn after Eddie Brock and his son Dylan returned to the Marvel Universe.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for “Carnage Beyond” by Ryan Stegman, Joe Bennett, Mattia Iacono, and VC’s Joe Sabino, from the pages of Carnage: Black, White & Blood #4, on sale now.

Carnage has returned in truly brutal fashion, and the world’s most vicious symbiote has big plans in store for the Marvel Universe. However, the Carnage of Extreme Carnage isn’t the only killer symbiote in the Marvel Universe right now.

In Carnage: Black, White and Blood #4, the Carnage of “Venom Beyond” just stepped back out of that Venom alternate timeline and into the Marvel Universe. And in the process, he revealed the tragic fates of Codex and the Anne Weying that Eddie Brock and his son Dylan got to know so well.

Venom Carnage Beyond

In the Marvel Universe, Dylan Brock wakes up to see “Venom Beyond’s Anne, his mother from another dimension, standing over him. As he and Eddie had learned during their time on this other Earth fighting alongside her, the Cletus Kasady of her reality was far from his usual self after having been trained away from his characteristically sadistic urges.

In 2020’s Venom #27 by Donny Cates and Juan Gedeon, the primary Marvel Universe’s Eddie and Dylan were accidentally transported to “Venom Beyond’s” world thanks to Mac Gargan, they discovered that Knull’s dark influence on this world’s Dylan had led him to become the maniacal despot known as Codex.

Despite having overthrown nearly the entire globe and claimed Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as his own personal army, Codex’s reign would be undone by Eddie and Dylan leading to an apparently short-lived era of peace. While there, Dylan was able to build the kind of connection with his mother that he had never known, and with Eddie at their side he finally had a complete family to call his own. Even though Eddie and Dylan had to return to their home reality, the time they were able to spend on this other Earth was one of the most important times in either of their lives.

After they returned to the Marvel Universe, “Venom Beyond’s” Carnage symbiote found a new host in its universe’s comatose Dylan Brock, as this issue reveals, With a new form, the alternate Carnage tore a swath of terror across the world, massacring almost everyone on the planet besides a select few he deemed worthy of keeping alive just to torment. And as Carnage emerges from the body, he reveals that she was one of his victims as well.

Carnage may have come for Dylan, but the symbiote is met with the defenses of Venom that Marvel’s main Dylan has bonded with. Infuriated by the loss of his temporary surrogate mother, Dylan quickly eradicated this carnage in retribution for the lives he stole.

In the world of “Venom Beyond,” Anne was a formidable symbiote user, and it’s equally surprising and telling that that Carnage was able to wreak so much havoc. While Dylan and Venom are able to take care of the threat he posed fairly quickly, this Carnage dealt a devastating blow by tearing up the only world where Dylan had ever known peace. Since his world’s Anne died so young, this also means that Carnage took away the closest person Dylan’s had to a mother in recent years.

Although Dylan is set to have adventures as Marvel’s new Venom, the fatalities revealed here give the halcyon days of his time in the world of “Venom Beyond” a bitter, tragic epilogue. While this version of Carnage won’t be harming anyone else, he’s already done plenty of damage to Dylan.
