Monster Hunter series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Kenji Oguro have detailed the post-launch content Capcom has in store for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, which hits Nintendo Switch on July 9th.
The first post-launch update – which adds Monster Hunter Rise’s Palamute as a ridable Monstie will be made available on July 15th – has already been announced, but Capcom has revealed that five additional free updates are also inbound, kicking off with ‘Title Update 2’ on August 5th.
This introduces the gilded Elder Dragon Kulve Taroth as a new co-op quest. Kulve Taroth won’t be available as a ridable Monstie, but materials from the quest can be used to craft new gear. Title Update 2 will also include Hellblade Glavenus and Boltreaver Astalos as additional Monsties.
‘Title Update 3’ comes in early September, and includes Soulseer Mizutsune, Elderfrost Gammoth and Oroshi Kirin as new Monsties. ‘Title Update 4’ is also coming in the same month, and brings with it Dreadking Rathalos and Molten Tigrex. This update will also see Kulve Taroth return in a new co-op quest.
October sees Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian introduced to the game as part of ‘Title Update 5’. This update will also include “a special mysterious monster, who will be part of a highly difficult co-op quest that offers materials for crafting incredibly powerful equipment.”
In addition to laying out its plans for after launch, Capcom also released a new launch trailer for the game, which is featured at the top of this very page.
