Blaze Entertainment has today announced that its Evercade VS retro console has been delayed slightly.
The NES-style system – which runs physical carts and is the home version of the popular Evercade handheld – was supposed to arrive in November, but will now launch in mid-December launch in Europe. A release window of December 8th-17th has been given, but this is an estimate. North American customers will sadly have to wait until 2022, with a January 14th revised release date being given.
Blaze Entertainment managing director Andrew Byatt had this to say:
Many people are aware of the increased pressure that has affected lorry freight, congestion at ports, and the shipping lines to get stock around the world. Like many other companies, we have to rely on this infrastructure to get you your console. Over the past 3 months, this situation has become very challenging and despite the best planning, we have not been able to find any way to improve outcomes.
Sadly, that’s not the end of the bad news – six new Evercade cartridges are also being delayed. They will ship alongside the new console.
We’ve given the Evercade plenty of coverage in the past, largely because some of its cartridges contain titles that were originally on Nintendo systems, like the NES and SNES.
Alongside the announcement of the delay, Blaze also revealed more information about the Evercade VS’ user interface:
– Improved Save Game Function with screenshots and the ability to delete save games.
– A new Quick Save function and a “Load Last Save” button to boot you directly to your last save game from the UI.
– New Display Modes, including Pixel Perfect aspect ratio, background bezels and scanline filters – changeable on the fly
– Detailed Game Information, including an introduction to the game and full control schemes on screen.
– Online Updates, additional controller mapping, themes and background music are also included!
