At The Game Awards, the show’s host Geoff Keighley announced a new Bayonetta spin-off would be coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch early next year. Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon will be landing on the hybrid platform on 17th March 2023 for $59.99 USD, and pre-orders are now live on the Switch eShop.
In this new storybook style game, players will take on the role of Cereza – a young apprentice witch who goes on a fateful journey into a forbidden forest in order to gain the power to save her mother. The gameplay in this new adventure will also see players controlling Cereza’s infernal demon partner, Cheshire (with a focus on exploration, combat and puzzle-solving).
If you’re eager to get your hands on it, you apparently won’t have to wait long – as a brief playable teaser for Bayonetta Origins can be accessed within the third title, Bayonetta 3:
“Players who want a sneak peek of the game won’t have to wait long at all. In fact, a brief playable teaser for Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon can be accessed within Bayonetta 3. Players who purchased the Old Picture Book at Rodin’s shop, The Gates of Hell, using in-game currency and unlocked it with three keys will be able to access it.”
A physical release has also been confirmed. Here’s a look at the game’s Nintendo Switch box art and some screenshots:
This latest announcement follows the release of the third mainline entry Bayonetta 3 in October, which we awarded an outstanding score of 10 out of 10 here on Nintendo Life:
