Batman ’89 Debuts Comic Shop-Specific Exclusive Covers

DC Comics unveils several exclusive variant covers for the upcoming Batman ’89 #1 that will only be available in specific comic book shops.

DC Comics reveals that five exclusive covers of Batman ’89 #1 will only be available in specific comic shops.

The shops will offer either a team variant of Batman ’89 #1 from Ken Taylor and Taurin Clarke or a shop-specific cover alongside the issue’s standard covers and variants. The shop covers include a variant by Francesco Mattina available at Comic Kingdom of Canada, another variant by Mico Suaya available at Big Time Collectibles and one by Carla Cohen available at Comics Elite. A variant cover by Warren Louw will also be available from KRS Comics, though artwork has not yet been released.

Written by Sam Hamm and Joe Quinones, the print version of Batman ’89 #1 goes on sale Tuesday, Aug. 10. DC recently revealed exclusive preview pages for the upcoming digital-first limited series, which showcase the return of Michael Keaton’s Batman, who first appeared in director Tim Burton’s classic films.

Along with these shop-specific variants, DC released the cover art for two upcoming issues of Batman ’89. This includes Batman ’89 #2, with a main cover by Quinones and a variant by Mitch Gerads, set to release in stores Sept. 14, and Batman ’89 #3, which also features a main cover by Quinones and a variant by Lee Weeks, arriving on Oct. 12.

Written by Sam Hamm and illustrated by Joe Quinones with colors by Leonardo Ito, Batman ’89 #1 goes on sale Aug. 10 from DC Comics.
