During the contentious Williamson County School Board meeting earlier this week, Leigh-Allyn Baker, who played the mother on Disney’s Good Luck Charlie, was among those who spoke out against mask restrictions. Baker presented numerous books before the school board, including copies of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Holy Bible.
She introduced herself as Leigh-Allyn Baker, a California immigrant. “I gave up everything there: a thriving Hollywood career, television appearances. I gave it all up for freedom and to be welcomed with open arms in this pleasant community in Tennessee, and I love it here.” The actress said that she is the mother of two children who have been damaged by vaccines.
“I wanted to tell you that I have two vax-injured children and they have medical exemptions after the seizures and the hospitalizations after all of their immunizations. I was granted, obviously, a medical exemption. So my children are those rare children that will just not be able to get the vaccine,” Baker continued. “And still, I would never put them in a mask because their brain needs oxygen to grow, which the neurologists can confirm. Anyway, the real part of the clown show is that you all think that you actually have the authority to mandate this.”

Baker continued on to say that “there are these books that I have and I have them as a gift for you: the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, the Federalist Papers and also the Bible. These guarantee my freedom and yours and our children’s to breathe oxygen.”
The speech drew an eruption of applause from the crowded meeting and has gone viral online.
Despite the tremendous outpouring of parents against mask mandates, the Williamson County Board of Education nonetheless approved a temporary mask mandate, which begins today and run until at least Sept. 12. Any guesses as to whether or not that gets extended?
Kids do not readily acquire SARS-CoV-2 (very low risk), spread it to other children or teachers, or endanger parents or others at home. This is the settled science. Therefore mask mandates for children is unscientific and potentially dangerous, but it likely won’t stop until more parents stand up against it. Remember, banning mandates does not ban the ability for anyone to wear a mask wherever they like.
