Avengers Sets the Winter Hulk Loose Against the Team’s Traitor

[ad_1]

Marvel Comics’ preview for The Avengers #48 sees the transformed Jennifer Walters going after an Avengers traitor.

An Avengers traitor has a Hulk-sized amount of payback waiting for him in The Avengers #48.

A Marvel Comics preview for the issue shows Gorilla-Man sulking in a bar in Bagalia, a Marvel nation known for being run by super villains. The venue was first seen in Secret Avengers back in 2012, Gorilla-Man now using a bar there as a place to drown his sorrows and punish himself. Little does he know, his punishment lies right around the corner.

Gorilla-Man has been in comics since the 1950s. He was first created by Stan Lee and Robert Q. Sale in 1954. To cover his origin, Kenneth Hale killed the original Gorilla-Man, which granted him the creature’s powers and abilities, turning him into the next Gorilla-Man.

Gorilla-Man was last seen in The Avengers #46 having betrayed the team and allowed the Red Widow and the Winter Guard to infiltrate Avengers Mountain and kidnap She-Hulk. Gorilla-Man was promised by Dracula that if he assisted the Winter Guard, Red Widow would kill him, something he had been longing for. However, Red Widow instead killed Ursa Major of the Winter Guard, who had been ready to cross the Russian team with the Avengers, leaving Gorilla-Man alone with nothing that he was promised.

It is for this reason Gorilla-Man is in the bar seeking to start a fight with its patrons. He explains that the one who kills him will gain his immortality and abilities, and tries to coax someone, anyone to fight him and finish him off. It is at this moment that the Winter Hulk arrives to perceivably do just that.

As a result of Gorilla-Man’s betrayal, Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk) was taken to the Red Room, brainwashed and tortured. Last issue saw her full transformation into the Winter Hulk, brutally taking out the Winter Guard and escaping the prison she was held in. She was last seen fully transformed, her hair now blonde and her skin red, sporting a white suit with metallic accents.
