An apparent Marvel Cinematic Universe poster leak shows Thor in a hugely different costume and teases the new Black Panther.
A new Marvel Cinematic Poster has seemingly leaked online.
Posted to r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers on Reddit by Ryantcairns, the image, which you can find at the link below, shows off a number of key MCU characters, including Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Shang-Chi and Peter Parker/Spider-Man. However, the biggest revelations from the poster are Thor wearing a brand new costume and some of what seems to be the new Black Panther. At this time, this leak has not been officially confirmed. While some of the art has previously been released, Thor and his costume seem to be new, lending some credence to the idea this poster may be real. Additionally, comments on the post claim the image came from an EB Games in Australia.
In the MCU, T’Challa/Black Panther was originally played by Chadwick Boseman. The superhero’s first solo movie, 2018’s Black Panther, proved a massive hit commercially and earned more than $1.34 billion worldwide. Critically, the film holds a 96 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, making it the highest-rated MCU film.
The future of Black Panther as a character has been up in the air since the death of Boseman in 2020, and there’s been a lot of speculation as to just who will take up the mantle when Black Panther: Wakanda Forever releases on Nov. 11. Many rumors claim Shuri (Letitia Wright) will take on the mantle, but there have also been rumors Dora Milaje member Okoye (Danai Gurira) will become Black Panther. If this leak proves true, though, that Okoye rumor may be debunked, as the character also appears on the poster separate from Black Panther.
As for the God of Thunder, Thor is slated to make his MCU return in Thor: Love and Thunder on July 8. The fourth movie in the franchise, plot details regarding Thor: Love and Thunder are scare at this time. However, several members of the Guardians of the Galaxy will appear in the movie, and Christian Bale will debut as Gorr the God Butcher. Additionally, Natalie Portman will reprise her role as Jane Foster for the first time since 2013’s Thor: The Dark World. This time, though, they’ll be a twist, as Jane will become the Mighty Thor. Her character appears on the above posted beside Thor.
The next MCU movie to release will be Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Directed by Sam Raimi, that movie stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange and releases May 6.
