Another Day, Another Comicbook Film Actor Arrested

Variety reported on plans by AT&T to overhaul DC, both in movies and comics, as though that’s never been done before:

The new owners of all things Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman are exploring an overhaul of DC Entertainment, multiple sources close to the situation told Variety.

It’s been less than a week since Discovery closed its $43 billion deal for WarnerMedia, joining one of the largest producers of reality programming with one of the most venerable entertainment brands under the new moniker of Warner Bros. Discovery. David Zaslav, the CEO of the combined companies, and top leadership have been toying with the idea of turning DC into its own solidified content vertical, the sources said.

The move would potentially affect DC feature film development in the Warner Bros. Pictures Group, streaming series at Warner Bros. Television, and the creative arm within DC proper — all in an effort to have the disparate elements more closely aligned in order to maximize the value of the superhero stable — one often seen as punching up against Marvel.

Wasn’t this already done over a decade ago, when they were preparing to move the comics publishing to California? Clearly, they’re ignoring past attempts, for all the good they did, and pretending it’ll literally work again, even though they’ve already been hit by scandals, most recently Flash actor Ezra Miller’s latest disorderly in Hawaii, for which he was arrested. When stuff like that happens, it sours the milk about to be poured.

And since we’re on the topic of DC’s movie machine, Breitbart reported some bad news came up about one of the co-stars of their planned Black Adam movie, Joseph Gatt:

Actor Joseph Gatt, who played Thenn Warg on HBO’s Game of Thrones and is next set to star in DC Entertainment’s Black Adam, was arrested in Los Angeles last week for allegedly engaging in “online sexually explicit communication” with a minor.

Gatt was reportedly arrested on April 6 after the Los Angeles Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Task Force began investigating him after receiving a tip he “had been engaged in online sexually explicit communication with a minor across state lines,” according to People.

“[Gatt] also had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest stemming from a similar incident involving a minor victim, police relayed to Fox News Digital. He was arrested for contact with a minor for a sexual offense,” noted the outlet. “Police are now ‘seeking to identify any additional victims’ following Gatt’s arrest.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, Gatt’s also had a few more comics-related films/TV programs on his resume:

Gatt played Thenn Warg on the HBO fantasy juggernaut Game of Thrones. His other TV credits include Banshee, Banshee Origins, and Stan Lee’s Lucky Man. Gatt also starred in films Thor, Dumbo, Star Trek Into Darkness, Stormageddon, 3 Hours Until Dead, and the upcoming Black Adam.

So again, we have a sad case of famous pop culture products being tarnished by scumbags. As though it weren’t bad enough Stephen Collins will taint the 1st Trek movie from 1979 for years to come, since he played the role of a commander named Willard Decker there. Gatt played the role of a Frost Giant in 2011’s Thor, and now, the accusations against him by police will freeze over people’s perceptions of his previous screen roles. What good does it do to overhaul DC Entertainment if they’ve failed to overhaul morality first?

There’s just no point in a repeat reworking of DC’s management when they clearly aren’t trying hard enough to improve their morality clauses with hired actors and writers first. That they’ve gone quadrupled the woke in comics publishing under Marie Javins doesn’t help matters either.
