After Roe v Wade will Disney Start Playing Politics in Georgia Again?

The state of Georgia, and notably Atlanta, has promoted itself for more than ten years as the best location in the world for Hollywood to generate money. The incentives offered there have been very well-received by the film industry, and the studio facilities there are excellent for what most high-end production studios require.

Hollywood has been inundating the state with new residents, which has been starting to sway it towards more coastal values was something the conservatives who created the film pitch may not have anticipated, though. The southeastern state and the film crews who live there are under further stress as a result of today’s Supreme Court of the United States decision. Many immigrants from California and New York don’t have the same goals for Georgia that the state’s residents do.

Numerous Marvel films as well as others are produced in Georgia. Because of this, the Peach State is gearing up for a potential political conflict later this year as a result of the Supreme Court’s decision on abortion. Georgian conservatives certainly don’t intend to give it up the Peach State, and Hollywood can’t readily leave the state either.

While Disney waded into the abortion laws in Georgia back in 2019, their recent political battle in Florida proved unsuccessful. However, entertainment businesses were successful in North Carolina when it came to the subject of transgender restrooms. Will major movie studios encourage Georgia to change its present law to allow abortions after six weeks? Or will they recall Disney’s Florida loss in the culture war and decide to back off?
