A Monster Association Executive Gets a Huge Power-up

[ad_1]

One-Punch Man is no stranger when it comes to stronger forms, and another Monster Association executive grows more powerful in Chapter 153.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for One-Punch Man Chapter 153, “Results,” One, Yusuke Murata, John Werry and James Gaubatz, available in English at Viz Media and Manga Plus.

One-Punch Man loves poking fun at superhero tropes, including multiple level-ups of both heroes and villains. Perhaps the only character who doesn’t receive any sort of transformation in the series is Saitama, since he already is the epitome of being strong. Another executive of the Monster Association receives a major power-up in Chapter 153 of One-Punch Man.

While Saitama and Genos finally met again and Garo perfected his own martial arts, another big event was happening on the sea. Gotz Okkie, the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, noticed a humongous unidentified object coming from underneath them. The carrier itself was big enough to accommodate at least 25 planes, yet this was at least thrice its size. The moment it emerged, the aircraft carrier capsized and the crew wasn’t even able to completely evacuate to the bridge. The gigantic waves revealed two big eyeballs, a distinctive feature of a certain Monster Association executive — Evil Mineral Water.

King's ultimate attack in One-Punch Man

The last time One-Punch Man readers saw Evil Mineral Water was when King used his ultimate technique and Garo executed it. At that time, Garo eliminated Barf President Ugly and dispersed Evil Mineral Water. While it did seem that the monster took a beating, it was uncertain whether the Hero Hunter managed to obliterate it. Its reappearance here proves Garo’s attacks aren’t enough to kill it.

Evil Mineral Water is said to be the most dangerous creature in the Monster Association, so much so that Psychos had to confine it in a vault. It has a bit of intelligence — as shown when it absorbed oil to resist Child Emperor’s attack — but it generally attacked everything it deemed hostile like a loose cannon. Evil Mineral Water has a body made entirely out of liquid, thus rendering most attacks useless against it. Killing it also proved to be difficult, given that Garo’s consecutive attacks only managed to scatter it.

Now that it’s absorbed a huge quantity of seawater, the monster has attained its largest size yet. It seems the aircraft carrier will be the first of Evil Mineral Water’s victims in its new form, and it’s highly unlikely to stop there. Having a larger body also means obliterating it has become even more challenging. With most of the S-Class heroes down, the only ones who can possibly deal with it are Saitama, Bang, God or maybe Garo.

One-Punch Man is no stranger when it comes to power-ups. Black Spermatozoon is now Platinum Spermatozoon, and even President Ugly became Barf President Ugly before he died. However, Evil Mineral Water’s upgrade may just be the series’ trickiest opponent yet — not that it stands a chance against Saitama’s punch.
