DC’s Earth-Prime #2, on sale in April, promises to peel back the curtain on a key character from The CW’s Superman & Lois.
The second issue of DC’s upcoming Earth-Prime comic book series promises to reveal the origins of the evil, alternate-reality version of Superman seen in The CW’s Superman & Lois.
Set to launch this April, Earth-Prime is a six-part limited series that stars the heroes of The CW’s DC television shows. Earth-Prime #1, due out on April 5, stars Ryan Wilder/Batwoman (Javicia Leslie) from Batwoman. Meanwhile, April 19’s Earth-Prime #2 takes readers to Smallville so they can check in with Superman & Lois‘ Clark Kent/Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois Lane (Elizabeth Tulloch).
Earth-Prime #2 comes from writers Adam Mallinger, Jai Jamison and Andrew Wong, as well as artists Tom Grummett and Norm Rapmund. The issue features cover art by Kim Jacinto. “Clark Kent and Lois Lane try to celebrate their first wedding anniversary but can’t quite seem to find their rhythm as heroics and reporting continue to spoil the couple’s plans,” the issue’s official synopsis reads. “Plus, learn the true origins of the evil Superman from John Henry’s world!”

Taking place on the newly-formed Earth-Prime in the aftermath of “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” Superman & Lois initially premiered on The CW on Feb. 23, 2021. Season 1 introduced The Stranger (Wolé Parks), a Superman-hating antagonist from an alternate Earth. The Stranger was originally identified as “Captain Luthor,” suggesting that he was an alternate version of Lex Luthor. It was later revealed, however, that The Stranger was actually John Henry Irons, aka Steel.
Hailing from Earth-TUD22, John Henry Irons was married to his universe’s version of Lois Lane, with the two having a daughter, Natalie Lane Irons (Tayler Buck). However, Earth-TUD22 was ultimately laid to waste by an evil, black suit-wearing version of Superman, leading John Henry to swear vengeance against the Man of Steel. However, despite initially attempting to kill him, John Henry learned to work alongside Earth-Prime’s version of Supes.
Superman & Lois Season 2 premiered on The CW earlier this month on Jan. 11 and is currently two episodes deep. The season’s third episode, “The Thing in the Mines,” debuts this Tuesday, Jan 25.
Written by Adam Mallinger, Jai Jamison and Andrew Wong and illustrated by Tom Grummett and Norm Rapmund, Earth-Prime #2 goes on sale April 19 from DC Comics.
