The Pokémon World Championships are almost upon us and The Pokémon Company has revealed a healthy amount of in-game merchandise that viewers will be able to get their hands on for free.
These limited-time offers (brought to our attention by Go Nintendo) will be available to anyone watching the championships via the official Twitch streams, during which various codes will be posted that will allow you to unlock several cool new items in Pokémon Unite, Pokémon GO and the Pokémon Trading Card Game. It looks like these codes are not going to hang around for long after the Championships end on August 22nd, so be sure to have your Switch and mobile at the ready while tuning in!
Without further ado, here is all the information that you will need to redeem each free in-game item dropping over the coming World Championship events.
Pokémon GO
Kicking it off with the most limited-time offer, the Pokémon GO Twitch stream will be providing two exclusive reveals for those paying attention to the live chat and video feeds.
Firstly, you will be able to get your hands on the chance to take part in some brand new timed research, which promises to “provide Trainers with an introduction to battling plus a choice of Pokémon encounters for them to craft a competitive Great League team!”
Once entered, you will be able to choose between the following encounter rewards:
- Team Option 1: Ariados, Pelipper, Galarian Stunfisk
- Team Option 2: Skarmory, Swampert, Drapion
- Team Option 3: Talonflame, Venusaur, Jellicent
The code to take part in this research will only be active for one hour after being shared in the stream, so you need to get in there quickly to ensure that you have the chance to build the best team possible.
There will also be the option to redeem a cosmetic reward in Pokémon GO during the livestream. The event will be sharing a code for the 2022 Worlds Tee, which will provide an exclusive World Championships t-shirt for your in-game avatar so you can continue to relish the event way into the future.
The t-shirt code seems that it will also be posted on the official Pokémon socials after the livestream is over and will be valid until August 22nd at 4:59 p.m. PDT.
Pokémon Trading Card Game
Don’t worry Pokémon TCG players, the event will be giving out exclusive offers for you too. During the TCG’s livestream, a code will be released that will let you redeem the Path to Peak Stadium card from the Sword & Shield – Astral Radiance expansion. This card mandates that Pokémon with a Rule Box in play have no Abilities, and it could be yours — for free!
There’s slightly less of a rush to redeem the code on this one as we understand that you will be able to get your hands on the virtual card until 11 p.m. PDT on August 28, 2022. You can redeem the code either in the Pokémon TCG Online or Pokémon Trading Card Game Live
Pokémon Unite
The final round of in-game exclusives that will be released during the World Championships livestreams comes to Pokémon Unite. During the Unite Twitch stream, a code will be made available which will get you a special Worlds-themed t-shirt for your trainer to wear.
This white tee proudly displays the World Championships’ logo, the same that we have seen on other exclusive merchandise such as the Pokémon coin set, so you can take the memory of the event with you as you enter the battle arena.
The exclusive in-game t-shirt code will appear at some point during the livestream and will be available to redeem through until August 30, at 4:59 p.m. PDT. All that time will feel like a leisurely holiday when compared to the frantic speed that Pokémon GO fans will want to enter their training code!
The Pokémon World Championships kick off tomorrow (August 18th) and will run through until August 21st. If you are not lucky enough to be attending the event in person, then check out the official livestream timetable where you can find all the necessary information to watch the events from the comfort of your own home.
GO, Unite, and TCG players are not the only ones getting some free rewards during the Championships. Pokémon Sword & Shield players will be able to get a couple of codes — depending on whether they’re at the event or not — and one of them has a very British flavour.
And don’t forget, if you’re in London for the event, you can also visit the Pokémon Center Pop-Up at the ExCel, which is open from today until Sunday.
