Sentai to Unleash Fourth Season of “Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?” Summer 2022
Sentai announced that it acquired the highly anticipated fourth season of Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, which adapts the Labyrinth Arc of Fujino Omori’s award-winning, mega-popular light novel series. Sentai will premiere Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? IV on HIDIVE as part of the Summer 2022 simulcast season for audiences in North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Turkey, Middle East and Latin America.
Intrepid adventurer Bell Cranel has leveled up, but he can’t rest on his dungeoneering laurels just yet. The Hestia Familia still has a long way to go before it can stand toe-to-toe with the other Familias of Orario — but before Bell can set out on his next mission, reports of a brutal murder rock the adventuring community! One of Bell’s trusted allies stands accused of the horrible crime, and it’s up to Bell and his friends to clear their name and uncover a nefarious plot brewing in the dungeon’s dark depths.
The fourth installment of the Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? saga is produced by J.C. Staff (Food Wars!, The Executioner and Her Way of Life). Season 4 is directed by Hideki Tachibana (Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? III, Armed Girls Machiavellism) with series script supervision from both Hideki Shirane (Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, Hayate the Combat Butler) and the light novel series’ original creator, Fujino Omori.
The series stars returning seiyuu Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Akame ga Kill!, DEVILS’ LINE) as Bell Cranel and Inori Minase (Girls’ Last Tour, Tada Never Falls in Love) as the fan-favorite goddess Hestia. The series also stars Saori Hayami (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU Climax, Spy x Family) as Ryu Lion, Yoshimasa Hosoya (Kids on the Slope, Attack on Titan) as Welf Crozzo, Maya Uchida (Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions!, Domestic Girlfriend) as Liliruca Arde, Kazuyuki Okitsu (Run With the Wind, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure) as Ouka Kashima, Haruka Chisuga (Amagi Brilliant Park, SHIROBAKO) as Haruhime, Chinatsu Akasaki (Food Wars! The Second Plate, Wasteful Days of High School Girls) as Mikoto Yamato, Akeno Watanabe (To Love Ru, Witch Hunter Robin) as Aisha Belka and Yuka Iguchi (Girls und Panzer, Ascendance of a Bookworm) as Hitachi Chigusa.
The series will premiere on HIDIVE in Summer 2022 with a home video release to follow.
Sentai Picks Up Boy-Meets-Vampire Anime Series “Call of the Night”
Sentai announced today that it acquired exclusive rights to Call of the Night, the highly anticipated anime adaptation of the popular vampire-themed shounen manga of the same name. The manga, written and illustrated by Kotoyama, is serialized in hit-making publisher Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine and has sold more than 2 million volumes. Sentai will stream the series exclusively on HIDIVE, its direct-to-consumer streaming service, to multiple countries across the globe beginning Summer 2022.
Wracked by insomnia and wanderlust, Ko Yamori is driven onto the moonlit streets every night in an aimless search for something he can’t seem to name. His nightly ritual is marked by purposeless introspection — until he meets Nazuna, who might just be a vampire! Ko’s new companion could offer him dark gifts and a vampire’s immortality. But there are conditions that must be met before Ko can sink his teeth into vampirism, and he’ll have to discover just how far he’s willing to go to satisfy his desires before he can heed the Call of the Night!
At the time of this writing, the trailer for Call of the Night has earned 5.4 million views since its debut on YouTube in November, 2021. Animated by LIDENFILMS (Blade of the Immortal, Kotaro Lives Alone, Tokyo Revengers), Call of the Night is directed by Tomoyuki Itamura (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, The Case Study of Vanitas, Bakemonogatari). Michiko Yokote (Teasing Master Takagi-san, Cowboy Bebop, Bleach) penned the series’ script. Character designs are provided by Haruka Sagawa (key animator for Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions, Nichijou and Kill la Kill).
The series stars Sora Amamiya (Akame ga Kill!, Tokyo Ghoul, Seven Deadly Sins) as Nazuna Nanakusa, Gen Sato (Dr. Stone, Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki, Pretty Boy Detective Club) as Ko Yamori and Yumiri Hanamori (Grimoire of Zero, Laid-Back Camp, Smile Down the Runway) as Akira Asai.
Call of the Night will premiere exclusively on HIDIVE during the Summer 2022 simulcast season, with a home video release to follow.
Sentai Acquires “TOKYO MEW MEW NEW” Reboot Series
Sentai announced today that it acquired exclusive rights to TOKYO MEW MEW NEW, the latest anime adaptation of the beloved mahou shoujo (AKA magical girl) manga series written by Reiko Yoshida and illustrated by Mia Ikumi. TOKYO MEW MEW NEW reboots the iconic franchise and commemorates the manga’s 20th anniversary. The series will premiere exclusively on HIDIVE in Summer 2022 to audiences in select countries around the world (excluding Asia).
The scientists of the μ(Mew) Project use DNA of endangered species to create a team of heroines imbued with amazing super-human abilities. One of them, Ichigo Momomiya, awakens to discover she is armed with all the skills of a Iriomote cat. Ichigo must band together with other Mew Mew girls to repel an alien incursion, all the while hiding their thrilling double lives from friends and family.
Animated by Yumeta Company (Re:Stage! Dream Days, Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna, Kiniro no Corda: Primo Passo) and Graphinica (Hellsing Ultimate, Hello World, Juni Taisen: Zodiac War), the series is directed by Takahiro Natori (episode director for My Hero Academia, Gosick and Erin) with series composition from Yuka Yamada (Non Non Biyori, Mushishi, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid Season 2). Character design is provided by Satoshi Ishino (character designer for Release the Spyce and Date A Live, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood animation director).
Five new Japanese actresses chosen for the project will make their voice acting debut as the main cast in TOKYO MEW MEW NEW. They perform in-character in “Smewthie,” a special music project formed to promote TOKYO MEW MEW NEW. They are supported by fellow seiyuu Yuichi Nakamura (CLANNAD, Haikyu!! 3rd Season, Jujutsu Kaisen) as Ryo Shirogane, Yuma Uchida (Ahiru no Sora, Fruits Basket (2019), Banana Fish) as Masaya Aoyama, Kaori Ishihara (The Hentai Prince & the Stony Cat, IRODUKU: The World in Colors, Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic) as Masha and Yusuke Shirai (Sasaki and Miyano, Combatants Will Be Dispatched!, My Dress-Up Darling) as Keichiro Akasaka.
