Amber Heard Admits at Trial Her Aquaman 2 Role Substantially Reduced

Angry calls for Amber Heard’s removal from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the sequel to the Aquaman, have escalated amidst the ongoing defamation court case between Johnny Depp and the Mera actress. And during proceedings, the actress admitted that her role has been diminished, as she admitted in court on Monday.

“I fought really hard to stay in the movie,” she said, adding she’d filmed “a very pared-down version” of her role.

The diminished role is likely due to a Change.org petition with over 4.2 million signatures that was launched to get her removed from the DCEU movie, which is scheduled to hit theaters on March 17, 2023. That’s nearly two million signatures added in just the last 3 weeks, according to Breitbart News. The petition was started in the fall of 2020, after Heard admitted to beating former lover Johnny Depp and ridiculing his manhood in audio recordings. The petition is now on it’s way to becoming one of the top signed petitions on the website. In recent weeks, as Depp testified under oath about being abused by Heard, which is clearly the impetus for why these signatures have rapidly increased.

“I was given a script then given new versions of the script that had taken away scenes that had action in it, that depicted my character and another character, without giving any spoilers away, two characters fighting with one another,” Heard testified this week. “They basically took a bunch out of my role. They just removed a bunch.”

Representatives for Heard have declined to comment on whether the petition and the reduced role are related.

In the ongoing $50 million libel complaint, Depp claims that a 2018 column Heard published in the Washington Post, in which she referred to herself as a “public figure symbolizing domestic abuse,” has hurt his cinematic career. Heard is counter-suing for $100 million in retaliation.
