Christina Ricci Returns to the Addams Family in Tim Burton’s ‘Wednesday’

This is the news Addams Family fans have been hoping for since the new Netflix series Wednesday was announced: Christina Ricci, the actor most closely associated with the title character (other than the original Lisa Loring), will be a major part of the live-action show from Tim Burton.

Deadline reports that Ricci, who starred as Wednesday Addams in the Barry Sonnenfeld-directed 1990s Addams Family feature franchise, will be a series regular in Wednesday, which is headlined by Jenna Ortega in the title role.

Details about Ricci’s role are being kept under wraps to protect the surprise for fans, but the site did reveal that she plays a new character and not an older version of Wednesday.

The coming-of-age comedy, written by Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar and directed by Burton, stars Ortega as Wednesday Addams during her years at Nevermore Academy. It’s described as a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery.
